Boetsch Talks Hamill and New Deal with UFC
(mmaweekly.com)Stepping up on short notice is sure to be the calling card for Ultimate Fighting Championship light heavyweight Tim Boetsch, who will again stand in for an injured fighter as he takes on Matt Hamill at UFC Fight Night on April 2 in Broomfield, Colo.
Though he is replacing Stephan Bonnar, the Pennsylvania-based fighter is looking forward to having more time to get ready for his return to the Octagon.
“I’m trying to figure out what to do with all the time,” said Boetsch with a laugh about having more time to prepare for this fight than his last time out.
It seems UFC matchmaker Joe Silva has the fighter’s number on speed dial, as this is the second time he will step up for the promotion and Boetsch is fine with that arrangement.
“I’ll be ready to fight whenever and wherever they need me,” he stated. “Somebody gets hurt or drops out, I think my name’s close to the top of the list of people they want to call.”
Matt Hamill talks about being deaf, Bisping and his fight with Bonnar
(mmafightline.com)He looks like a cool guy and hasn't got any thing bad to say about Bisping.
Anyway heres the
Fightline.com: Can you explain to people that don't know, a little bit about being a deaf fighter?
Hamill: I have been deaf since birth so I don't know any different, if I could hear or not. I think being deaf does allow me to concentrate on my matches and fights. In the ring all I see is the person in front of me. No other distractions whatsoever get in the way.
Dana White say's Fedor IS top 5
(tsn.ca)In this interview Dana talks about how he isn't the face of UFC and how he thinks the fighters get a lot more attention than him.
Its a cool interview so i thought i'd share it.
Here's the

New Igor Vovchanchyn interview
(russianmma.com)
Question: What are you doing at the moment? Will you agree to return to a few fights if asked?
Igor Vovchanchyn: I am a businessman. I won't return. Sometimes I want to, but I'm already 35. And above all I have injuries. I can't punch with my right hand at all: I have three pins in the elbow. And additional one in the left. Soon I will go to the nose surgery because I can't breath in the usual manner. Therefore there is no sense of me coming back.
Had no idea he was that messed up. He was awesome to watch
Nogueira's trainer: Sylvia Cheated
(mmafightline.com)
Luiz Alves, the muy thai trainer for Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, was recently interviewed by the Brazilian news site tatame.com and has made some interesting remarks concerning “Big Nog’s” recent victory over Tim Sylvia. Alvez made the claim during his interview that “the Americans” were using baby cream which would not become slippery until it came in contact with sweat
If his claims are valid it will be interesting to see what course of action the UFC will take to punish this sort of behavior, or to prevent this sort of foul from being committed in the future.
Referee Steve Mazzagatti Discusses Lesnar-Mir Fight — An MMAjunkie.com Interview
(mmajunkie.com)MMAJUNKIE.COM: OK, onto the fight. When we spoke earlier, you mentioned that the decision to deduct Lesnar one point for strikes to the back of Mir’s head was pretty clear. Can you explain?
STEVE MAZZAGATTI: These fighters are extremely skilled fighters, and a grappler like Frank, that’s what they’re trained to do: when you have a guy in half guard on top of you, you don’t want to give the guy room to punch. So that was Mir’s defense. You suck up close to (your opponent’s) chest, tuck yourself up under them, and that covers you from getting hit. At first, Brock started to do the right thing by winding up with the hook from behind and pushing Mir’s head away from his stomach. Then you can blast him in the face… but to have to worry about getting struck in the back in the head in a situation like that isn’t something Frank should have had to worry about. But that was a target that presented itself to Brock.

New Dana interview.
(mmafightline.com)I listened to it but you've got to laugh at some of the stuff he says!
He can't be serious can he?!
On Couture and Fedor Emelianenko:
Randy Couture, right now is the best fighter in the world. Fedor is a farce. He [just fought] "Long Duck Dong"...we'll just call him that. It's a joke. This guy hasn't beat anybody since 2005 and you know who was the last guy he beat in 2005? Mirko Cro Cop who just lost to two guy's that nobody's...you know.
Clock is ticking on Mirko Cro Cop and the UFC …
(mmamania.com) “We’re waiting to hear from him. We told him we’d wait for him to make a decision, but he’s not making a decision…. The deadline is pretty much up, and I need decision from him by Monday (February 4).”
UFC President Dana White provides an update on the Mirko Cro Cop situation — the 2006 Pride FC Open Weight Grand Prix Champion has a losing record inside the Octagon (1-2) and has not competed since UFC 75: “Champion vs. Champion” in September 2007. No word on what will happen if the deadline expires with no word from the Croatian.
Joe Lauzon Audio interview
(mrsunshinevegas.wordpress.com)
Here's a few HL's since some of you might not be able to play it:
BJ training w/o headgear like on the show is completely normal there. BJ just lets you hit him and Joe doesn't even bother packing his anymore when he goes there.
Some banter on Boston vs. NY sports (the interviewer is a Ny'er)
Says fighters can't stand big Timmah either both because of his boring style and his personality. Talked sh*t to Joe's brother Dan after the Spencer fight. (Which was Dan's debut at 18 and took it on two weeks notice. Dan was winning until he gassed and got caught) He later apologized to Joe but Joe didn't seem to think it's genuine. Says he's def. not alone among fighters who can't stand Tim
Breaks down Lesnar / Mir and picks Lesnar. Says the hype is OK because it's attracts more fans, it's just business
Also breaks down Nog / TIm and picks Nog cause he's got no love for Timmeh
Two Q&A's with Rogerio Nogueira
(sherdog.com)Antonio Rogerio Nogueira spent the first part of 2007 dedicating himself to training boxing for the Pan-American Games. The Brazilian did well, capturing the bronze medal and losing only to the champion of his weight class.
Now his focus is back on MMA, and he will face Todd Gouwenberg on Friday in Canada at Hardcore Championship Fighting. In two interviews with Sherdog.com, the first in Brazil with Gleidson Venga and the second the day before he fights in Canada, "Minotoro" discusses his return.
Paulão gives revenge to Sonnen at WEC, in March
(tatame.com)WEC Champion at 84kg category, Paulão Filho gave Chael Sonnen a revenge, whom defeated at WEC 31, at 2007 December, with an arm-lock. According to Paulão Filho’s boxing coach, Josuel Distak, Sonnen asked for a revenge after the fight. “Last fight I had a lot of weight problems with Paulão, that’s why he wasn’t well. Sonnen asked for a revenge and we accepted. Thanks God this will be Paulão’s last fight at 84 category. After this fight he’ll go up to 93kg category”, said Distak.
Randy Couture Picks Tim Sylvia Over Antonio Noguiera
(mmafightline.com)Randy Couture is, legally speaking, the UFC heavyweight champion. He recently declined an invitation to fight Antonio Noguiera however, stating that he has resigned from the UFC and wished to pursue a fight with consensus number one heavyweight Fedor Emelianenko. He has since battled UFC management in an intense, and very public war of words; and now faces a potential legal battle as well.
The latest spat between Couture and the UFC has to do with Couture's work as a cornerman at events held by organizations such as the IFL and HCF.
Couture has appearently recieved word from UFC officials that making appearences at such organizations is a breach of contract. Couture sat down with The Calgary Sun to discuss the situation in more detail and also weighted in on the upcoming battle between Noguiera and his replacement at UFC 81, Tim Sylvia.
Second-Fiddle Tim Sylvia Aims for History
(mmajunkie.com)Tim Sylvia may be the world’s largest Rodney Dangerfield. The 6-foot-8, two-time former UFC heavyweight champion simply can’t get respect.
On Feb. 2 in Las Vegas, Sylvia will attempt to become only the second man in MMA history to win three major league world championships. Sylvia is attempting to go into the record book behind only Randy Couture, who won his fifth championship when beating Sylvia via decision last year. His opponent in an interim title match, Brazil’s Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, can make a legitimate claim for being the second best heavyweight in the sport’s history.
But for all the hype UFC 81 is getting, you’d likely never know either of those things.
It certainly never came up at Thursday’s UFC press conference for UFC 81.
Fedor interview: Talks Couture meeting and 2008 plans
(thenhbshow.com)
Jaime Martinez: Are there any plans to fight in the U.S.? If so, with whom are you talking and when would that be scheduled?
Fedor Emelianenko: “We are planning on having two or three fights this year. The first is scheduled for April 11th, and I’m not sure who I’ll fight yet. It will either be Jeff Monson or Pedro Rizzo.”
At the end he said he'll try to win more often Probably got lost in translation and he meant fight, but I thought it was kind of funny
EXCLUSIVE: WCO Promoter Explains His Full Side Of The Story
(mmanews.com)With the unfortunate cancellation Saturday of the World Cagefighting Organization show billed "The Return" many people were left scratching their heads wondering how the organizers of this event could let it happen. While many questions still remained unaswered at this point, MMANews.com had a chance to sit down and chat with WCO promoter Bruce Bellochi on Monday evening to discuss where things went wrong and to my surprise there appears more was going on behind the scenes than one may have expected.
Andrei Arlovski’s Management: Reported UFC 82 Fight Date not Confirmed
(mmajunkie.com)A report that former UFC heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski (11-5 MMA, 9-4 UFC) will return to the Octagon at March’s UFC 82 event appears to be a little premature.
The Chicago Sun-Times today reported that Arlovski will return to the octagon for a March 1 fight at Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio. However, representatives from Arlovski’s management today told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) that Arlovski hasn’t yet signed to fight at any event.
With that said, though, Arlovski has just one fight remaining on his current deal, and he’s expected to fight before the contract expires on April 15. With the recent cancellation/rescheduling of a March 8 event in the U.K., that makes UFC 82 the most likely option for Arlovski’s return
