Bellator 94 Live Broadcast Produces Low TV Ratings, but Replay Bolsters Bottom Line
(mmaweekly.com)
Bellator 94 on Thursday featured two Season 8 tournament finals, but that failed to give the event any punch in the TV ratings department. Bellator 94 drew just 713,000 viewers, the second lowest total of the season, according to MMAWeekly.com industry sources. Bellator’s Season 8 has still been a TV ratings success for the promotion, averaging 782,000 viewers per event, well above what the promotion has achieved in prior seasons on other networks. This is the first season that Bellator has aired on Spike TV. Season 8 kicked off strong with 938,000 viewers for the promotion’s debut on its new network, but hasn’t returned to that point since...

Bellator's Douglas Lima breaks hand, tourney final with Saunders moves to summer
(mmajunkie.com)
A broken hand has forced Douglas Lima (24-5 MMA, 6-1 BFC) out of his Season 8 welterweight tournament final with Ben Saunders (16-5-2 MMA, 7-2 BFC), Bellator Chairman and CEO Bjorn Rebney today announced. However, rather than plugging in a replacement, the organization simply will delay the fight a few months and host it as part of its annual Summer Series of events. An exact date hasn't been determined, a Bellator official today told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com). The fighters initially were slated to fight on March 21 at Bellator 93, which airs on Spike TV from Lewiston, Maine.

Broken hand cancels Daniel Straus' title fight with Pat Curran at Bellator 95
(mmajunkie.com)
A long wait is about to get longer for Bellator's Season 6 featherweight tournament winner, Daniel Straus. Straus (21-4 MMA, 7-1 BFC) broke his hand during a training session and has been forced to withdraw from a title fight against featherweight champion Pat Curran (18-4 MMA, 8-1 BFC) at Bellator 95, which takes place April 4 at Revel Resort & Casino in Atlantic City, N.J. Multiple sources close to the event passed along the news to MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com). A replacement search is currently underway for Straus, who most recently appeared this past October in a non-tourney fight.

Bjorn Rebney: We are not going to sign Jon Fitch
(themmareport.com)
The UFC released Jon Fitch yesterday and the belief was that he could likely land in Bellator and speculation started that he could end up fighting in Bellator. However, Bellator MMA Chairman and CEO Bjorn Rebney told TheMMAReport.com that they will not be signing him. “I have a lot of respect for Jon [Fitch] and I have a lot of respect for anyone who has to courage to do what these guys do and the athletic ability to do what they do but we are not going to be signing Jon Fitch,” Rebney said prior to Bellator 90. Fitch is considered one of the top welterweight fighters in the world and had a UFC record of 14-3-1. However, he has gone 1-2-1 in his last four fights which led to the UFC deciding to part ways with him. Bellator’s welterweight division is one of the deepest divisions currently in Bellator and Rebney wants to continue the development of the fighters that are currently under contract with his organization.
