Coach and former UFC fighter Akira Corassani with the revelation:
"Everybody has a plan before they get hit" Acceptance: With zero excuses and pure admiration for @linalansberg the obvious conclusion is... Cyborg is just a better fighter, too strong, too heavy possesses power that can put any woman or man to sleep. To accept that as a team is very hard trying to figure out what we could've done differently. We turned every stone in this weird and crazy camp doing over 100 interviews along with one month before the fight traveling to Brazil for a two day promo shoot. We did what we had to do but we fought the last boss with no "insert coin" option! The home country crowd wanted Lina dead covering Tag team's song "Whoomp there it is" as she was walking in smiling! To make a long story longer... Lina had a chat with Cyborg where she mentioned that she walked into the cage at 170 lbs (77 kg). Now that means TWO weight classes up along with that additional skill level. What can be harder than doing all of this in your UFC debut!? I know she will be back and show what she is about but what she did taking this fight believing in herself is admirable! Fighters should ask themselves if they would do it? Forget about the average joe getting anxiety and jitters from singing at a half-empty karaoke bar! I am Linas biggest fan and I will make sure she bounces back! I wanna thank the REAL fans for their support and all the friends and family supporting her through this. She will be back!
So she went from 165 to 141 to 170 in the span of five days. Sounds healthy!
"The American Gangster" promised to wreck anyone and everyone willing to compete this November. That includes former UFC light heavyweight champion Tito Ortiz. Unfortunately for Sonnen, "The Huntington Beach Bad Boy" did not share his grand vision.
From Submission Radio:
"Chael calling me out on November 2nd? I'm the one who calls the shots, not him! We'll fight in January. We're not going to fight in November. I'm gonna give him some time to get used to being at his weight, off of steroids, so he can train through that time. November 17th is not happening. I'm calling the shots, not Chael Sonnen. Yeah he talks well, yeah he does his thing, but no, this is my weight class. I'm the one who calls the shots. Tito Ortiz is gonna call the shots."
The Brazilian commission overseeing this past Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 95 apparently won’t let Roy Nelson’s post-fight actions slide.
After Nelson vented his frustration with a stoppage win over Antonio Silva by kicking and then flipping off referee “Big” John McCarthy, the Comissao Atletica Brasileira de MMA, or CABMMA, announced the incident will be addressed by a Brazilian court.
CABMMA spokesperson Cristiano Sampaio claimed today that Nelson’s case will be taken up by the Superior Justice Court of Sport, which handles judicial questions pertaining to sports in Brazil.
“Even though CABMMA understands Roy Nelson’s ‘frustration’ in that situation due to his close relationship with his opponent, that does not justify his act and can open a serious and dangerous precedent in the sport,” Sampaio wrote in an email to MMAjunkie. “We, as the regulation body of MMA in Brazil and member of the Association of Boxing Commissions, will not tolerate such conduct.
“All the licensed professionals involved have to act accordingly, respecting the rules, commission, promoter and fans, where unsportsmanlike behavior will be subject to fines and suspensions.”
Bellator 162 in Memphis is starting to take shape, and Kimbo Slice's son — Kevin Ferguson Jr. — is slated to make his professional MMA debut.
On Sunday, Bellator officials informed MMA Fighting that 'Baby Slice" will take on the 24-year old Rick Bing, who is also making his pro debut in the MMA cage. The fight will take place on the prelims of Bellator 162.
Before there was the Resurrection Fighting Alliance (RFA), there was Ed Soares — the manager.
Soares, who has long made a name for himself as the manager of perhaps the best pound-for-pound fighter of all time, Anderson Silva — as well as overseeing the careers of other champions such as Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, Jose Aldo and Lyoto Machida — will be giving up the reins as a fighter manager in early 2017. That's when his new venture, the Legacy Fighting Championship Legacy Fighting Alliance gets rolling.
UFC lightweight Paul Felder is leaving Brazil with a new battle scar.
The 32-year-old fighter fought Brazilian Francisco Trinaldo in the main card of Saturday's UFC Fight Night 95 in Brasilia, Brazil. Felder lost via technical knockout, as the doctor overseeing the bout called the fight off due to a huge cut on Felder's right eyebrow. The cut was caused by repeated elbows and punches from Trinaldo. The fight was officially stopped at 2:25 of round three.
The last couple of weeks in the MMA world have been confusing, to say the least.
UFC 205, which will host the promotion’s long awaited debut in New York, was expected to feature a lightweight championship showdown between Eddie Alvarez and Conor McGregor in the main event. After several conflicting reports, however, it’s now looking like Alvarez will defend the 155-pound title against Khabib Nurmagomedov instead.
According to the latest report from Kevin Iole of Yahoo Sports, Dana White says McGregor’s foot is hurt and wants him to rematch Jose Aldo at featherweight.
“Conor’s foot is hurt, but he thinks he can fight,” White said. “I want him to fight Aldo.”
Headliner Cris Cyborg apparently made weight for her catchweight main event showdown with Lina Lansberg later tonight (Sat., Sept. 24, 2016) at UFC Fight Night 95 live on FOX Sports 1 from Ginasio Nilson Nelson arena in Brasilia, Brazil, which was the maximum of 141 pounds. But, according to this behind-the-scenes image above, courtesy of cyber sleuth @mikedyce, the Brazilian may have tipped the scales at 141.6 pounds.
Edit:
Here's the video, go to the 9:20 mark to see her weigh in officially.

Pride FC may be dead, but the heated rivalry between Wanderlei Silva and Charles Bennett is more alive than ever.
After his post-fight speech, Bennett taunted Silva from the ring, while Silva just watched and smiled. And it didn't end there. Just minutes after the callout, Combate Americas CEO Campbell McLaren tweeted a photo of what appeared to be another brawl between "Krazy Horse" and "The Axe Murderer."
The trilogy fight between former PRIDE FC champions Mirko Cro Cop and Wanderlei Silva is scheduled to happen at Rizin FF 2016 World Grand Prix quarter finals. The news was announced on the broadcast of the tournament's opening round on Sunday.
The Rizin FF Grand Prix quarter finals are scheduled to take place on Dec. 29 in Saitama, Japan.
T.J. Dillashaw has been asking for a rematch with Dominick Cruz for a while now, and on Friday evening, he took to social media to take another stab at it. Dillashaw offered the UFC champ a bet and is willing to put his entire ‘show’ money on the line.
“Yo what's up guys, first things first I need to congratulate Dominick Cruz for making the comeback he did. But it's time to put your money where your mouth is,” Dillashaw wrote on Instagram. “Tired of all the drama no more campaigning or talking shit to get this title fight rematch. I'm willing to bet 100k that I beat you in a rematch, you win I fight for free you lose you match my bet.”
“Time to put up or shut up! I believe I'm the better fighter and just want to prove it. Where you at, don't be scared homie. This is as real as it gets! You Talking about money fights, look no more here it is! I obviously believe in myself do you?”
Cody Garbrandt, who is likely to receive the next title shot, has since responded to Dillashaw. Interestingly enough, he implied that his former teammate has been using performance enhancing drugs.
"What are we out here campaigning for title shots now I'll smack ya both around Tj you aren't the same with usantidoping in the game!
One of the best prospects in women's MMA is going to be out for a while.
Mizuki Inoue tore her ACL recently and will require surgery, sources told MMA Fighting's Ariel Helwani. Invicta FC president Shannon Knapp confirmed the information and said Inoue was on the short list of potential next challengers for Angela Hill's strawweight title.
Typically, an athlete will need around one year to recover from ACL surgery. It's unclear if there's any kind of loose timetable for Inoue's return.
Louis Smolka has had a busy day.
First, he drew the ire of the interwebs after posting a video online in which he said his scheduled UFC Fight Night 96 opponent, Sergio Pettis (14-2 MMA, 5-2 UFC), had a “hurt vagina” as his reason for pulling out of their flyweight fight with what his trainer called a “minor injury.”
But now Smolka (11-1 MMA, 5-1 UFC) no doubt will be hoping to put that behind him since he has a new opponent for the card: Brandon Moreno (11-3 MMA, 0-0 UFC). A UFC official confirmed the fight to MMAjunkie today following an initial report from FOXSports.com.
UFC Fight Night 96 takes place Oct. 1 at Moda Center in Portland, Ore. The main card airs on FS1 following prelims on FS2 and UFC Fight Pass
Belal Muhammad isn't wasting any time. Less than a week after scoring his first Octagon victory at UFC Fight Night 93, Muhammad has agreed to jump back into the fray and fight former Bellator champion Lyman Good in a welterweight contest on Nov. 12 at UFC 205.
The UFC confirmed the booking Friday following an initial report by Newsday.
Former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Miesha Tate will be a part of November’s New York City debut.
Tate (18-6 MMA, 5-3 UFC) is slated to fight fellow contender Raquel Pennington (8-5 MMA, 5-2 UFC) at UFC 205, officials confirmed with ESPN.com.
The decision to strip Barb Honchak of the Invicta flyweight title wasn’t a bad one. How the promotion decided to go about it, on the other hand, was pretty poor.
Honchak herself confirmed that she had only seen the news online, and had not been informed by the promotion. In a statement delivered through Squor.com, Honchak gave her thoughts on no longer being the flyweight champion:
“I understand that Invicta would want to take the "interm" off the title since I have been out for an extended amount of time. But, I would have like the opportunity to relinquish and I would have like to have known by means other than Twitter.”
In the meantime, tonight’s interim title fight between Jennifer Maia and Roxanne Modafferi will now be for the undisputed Invicta flyweight championship. That fight headlines the promotion’s September 23rd card, along with an atomweight title defense for Ayaka Hamasaki against Jinh Yu Frey, in Kansas City, Missouri. The full event will be broadcast live on Fight Pass.
Liam McGreary has a date and place for his second light heavyweight title defense. The Bellator light heavyweight champion is scheduled to fight Phil Davis in the main event of Bellator 163.
The news was announced by the promotion on Friday.
Additionally, a welterweight battle between Saad Awad and Brennan Ward has also been added to the main card, along with a women's featherweight bout pitting Marloes Coenen and Talita Nogueira, which was previously reported by MMA Fighting.
Marloes Coenen will make her return to the Bellator cage in November against promotional newcomer Talita Nogueira, MMA Fighting confirmed with sources close to the situation following a report by Graciemag.
Bellator 163 is scheduled for Nov. 4 at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville. Paul Daley and Brennan Ward are also expected to compete on the card.
