Bellator releases rules for next week's 'Dynamite' light heavyweight tournament
Here are the plans for the tournament: * Two semifinal bouts and one tournament reserve bout will be contested over two five-minute rounds with a one-minute rest period. If any of the bouts are scored a draw, the bout is officially declared a draw, but the judges overseeing the fight will each cast a ballot on who they think should advance to the finals “by merit of his performance.” * A minimum of 30 minutes will separate the end of the semis and the beginning of the finals * The tournament final will be contested the same as a non-title fight, with three five-minute rounds and two one-minute rest periods. A draw will trigger the same process as the semifinals, only the fighter who gets the most votes will be declared the tournament’s winner. * If a semifinal winner cannot advance due to injury, a “survivor” rule will put his opponent into the finals. If that opponent can’t advance, however, the winner of the tournament reserve bout will advance. To advance, all tournament participants need medical clearance. * Fouls that end bouts will be addressed depending on whether the infraction was intentional or accidental. If an accidental foul renders the semifinal winner unable to continue, the uninjured fighter will advance, and the tournament reserve winner will remain on standby. * If an intentional foul ends a semifinal bout, the fouling fighter will be disqualified and the fouled fighter will be “medically eliminated.” Then the tournament reserve winner will advance. * If an accidental foul ends the finals before two rounds have been completed, the tournament is over without a winner. After two rounds, the bout gets judged on the completed rounds. * Any additional circumstances not addressed by the rules will resolved by “the senior (CSAC) representative in conjunction with the Bellator regulatory affairs director.”

Dominick Cruz against T.J. Dillashaw is an awesome fight. What goes into awesome? Just a bunch of the usual ingredients…air casts, cadaver tendons, the scalp of Nosferatu, protractors, a few sands of the hour glass, the soul of Takeya Mizugaki, things like that.

Dana White: Miesha Tate has to 'knock a couple more people off' before Ronda Rousey
Miesha Tate’s prospect of another UFC title fight against women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey have gone from bad to worse. UFC President Dana White publicly announced Tate (17-5 MMA, 4-2 UFC) as the No. 1 contender to Rousey’s (12-0 MMA, 6-0 UFC) title following her unanimous decision victory over Jessica Eye at UFC on FOX 16 in July. Rousey made her sixth consecutive title defense against Bethe Correia the following week at UFC 190 in Brazil, and White again declared that Tate would be next in line to challenge “Rowdy” for UFC gold. The situation took a sudden shift, however, when Holly Holm was announced as the next challenger to Rousey’s belt. The pair is set to fight at UFC 193 in Melbourne on Nov. 14.

Report: Alvarez fighting Pettis on January 17th, possibly in Boston
Former champions will apparently come together for a big fight in January. One-time UFC champ Anthony Pettis looks set to return from his title defeat at the hands of Rafael dos Anjos back in March at UFC 185. His opponent for his return, according to Combate, will be former Bellator champion Eddie Alvarez, fresh off a huge win over Gilbert Melendez in Mexico at UFC 188. While the fight makes sense for both men and would be a great booking, it's not 100% official yet. In fact, responding to reports, Eddie Alvarez didn't seem to know anything about it, but didn't deny it either: Edward Alvarez ?@Ealvarezfight I can't sit right Now !! Boston !! Daniel Cormier: Alexander Gustafsson's biggest accomplishment 'a fight he lost'
Daniel Cormier said he doesn’t understand why UFC 192 opponent Alexander Gustafsson gets so much credit for his loss to Jon Jones nearly two years ago. At UFC 165 in September 2013, Gustafsson (16-3 MMA, 8-3 UFC), who’s set to challenge Cormier (16-1 MMA, 5-1 UFC) for his UFC light-heavyweight title at UFC 192, gave ex-champ Jones arguably the most competitive fight of his career. “The Mauler” came out on the losing end of a unanimous decision, but since that fight, he’s received praise for pushing Jones to his limit during the dramatic five-round affair.

Geane Herrera calls out Ian McCall for UFC on FOX 17
The flurry of bookings recently announced for December’s UFC on FOX 17 event have put the number of fights on the card at 10. There should be a few slots left – as long as the promotion doesn’t have anything else up its sleeve. If there’s room, up-and-comer Geane Herrera (8-1 MMA, 0-1 UFC) would like to put his name in the hat. The flyweight badly wants to redeem himself for a loss in his UFC debut this past month – and against a big name in the division: Ian McCall (13-5 MMA, 2-3-1 UFC). “If they put me on that card, I will pack that house, and I will give them a show like I always do,” Herrera told MMAjunkie Radio.
