Rashad Evans: Bader doesn’t perform well when the pressure’s on
Former UFC light-heavyweight champion Rashad Evans might be coming back from a two-year layoff, but he said the pressure is on Ryan Bader to perform when they meet Saturday at UFC 192.
“I’m the fight he should get to prove that he deserves a title shot and that this is the new and improved Bader,” Evans told MMAjunkie. “He wants to prove that against a guy that’s been out for two years, a guy that’s over the hill, a guy who’s recovering from two knee surgeries.”
Takeya Mizugaki on emotional UFC win: 'I considered this as my last fight'
Takeya Mizugaki entered UFC Fight Night 75 with two straight losses and his back against the wall.
The Japanese fighter thrived under that pressure. Mizugaki (21-9-2 MMA, 8-4 UFC) outpointed George Roop (15-12-1 MMA, 5-8 UFC) over three rounds of bantamweight action to take a unanimous decision at this past Saturday’s event, which aired on FOX Sports 1 from Saitama, Japan.

Aljamain Sterling to face Johnny Eduardo at UFC Fight Night 80
If Aljamain Sterling really is considering MMA retirement, it'll have to wait a little while longer. The top-ranked UFC bantamweight is set to face Johnny Eduardo on Fight Pass as part of UFC Fight Night 80 on December 10th. Sterling made the news official on Monday as part of his interview with Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour.
For Uriah Hall, Saitama was a destination and an arrival
Homecomings can be a little bittersweet, especially in the twisted, merciless game of MMA, where every fight is an intersection of loosely controlled fate. It was nearly seven years ago to the day that Gegard Mousasi, in the midst of a 15-fight winning streak, stunned Ronaldo Souza with an upkick knockout at Dream 6. That happened in Saitama, Japan, on Sept. 23, 2008.
Johny Hendricks: It's partly the fans' fault I didn't get title rematch
Ex-welterweight champion Johny Hendricks said he’s over trying to figure out the UFC’s title plans after getting snubbed for another shot at champ Robbie Lawler’s belt.
“It is what it is,” he told MMAjunkie. “As long as my body’s healthy, I’m going to fight.
“It’s not even so much the UFC’s fault. It’s also the fans; whenever they do a polling of the fans, they might want something different.”
Sorry Jon we will do better next time. Your probs right Brutal Bob Lawler is scared of you.
George Roop says he's 'one of the best' but disappointed by UFC inconsistency
TOKYO – George Roop has been a pro fighter since 2006. In that nearly decade-long stretch, he’s never managed to earn more than three consecutive victories.
Roop (15-11-1 MMA, 5-7 UFC) has competed under Zuffa ownership – UFC and WEC – since 2008 and in that 15-fight span has never put together more than two-straight wins. He says he’s looking to change that pattern starting with Takeya Mizugaki (20-9-2 MMA, 7-4 UFC) at UFC Fight Night 75.
Ex-McGregor opponent Diego Brandao: 'Crazy guy' Jose Aldo will 'smash him' at UFC 194
TOKYO – Diego Brandao says he’s doing what’s necessary to get back in the octagon with top featherweights such as interim UFC champ Conor McGregor.
Brandao (19-10 MMA, 5-3 UFC) suffered a first-round TKO loss to McGregor at UFC Fight Night 46 in July 2014, a defeat that marked his second loss in a row. The Brazilian rebounded with a strong victory over Jimy Hettes in April, and he’s looking to continue his winning ways against Katsunori Kikuno (22-7-2 MMA, 2-2 UFC) at UFC Fight Night 75.
'Cyborg' calls out UFC, Ronda Rousey following Vitor Belfort report
Cristiane Justino has some new ammo as she angles for a fight with UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey.
“Cyborg,” who’s long campaigned for a bout with the dominant 135-pound champ, has been rebuffed by Rousey. While Justino, Invicta FC’s reigning 145-pound featherweight champ, has offered to fight at a catchweight, Rousey said she’ll only meet at 135 pounds since “Cyborg” failed a drug test due to the anabolic steroid stanozolol in 2011 (see the above video).
