UFC champion Stipe Miocic tells Daniel Cormier and other critics to ‘stop crying’
(https:)
Stipe Miocic wants to make one thing crystal clear — he absolutely wants to fight. The problem facing the UFC heavyweight champion is a matter of bad timing. First, he was forced to undergo a procedure to repair a torn retina following his rematch with Daniel Cormier last year that put him out of action for several months. Then just when Miocic started to get his full range of vision back as he returned to training for a proposed trilogy against Cormier, the coronavirus pandemic swept the country and he was forced to follow stay-at-home orders with gyms across Ohio being shut down by order of the governor. Since that time, Miocic has said numerous times that he plans to fight again as soon as he’s able to put together a training camp but that hasn’t stopped a long list of heavyweights from criticizing him for not returning sooner.

Dana White reveals UFC planning on ‘three or four’ consecutive cards when ‘Fight Island’ debuts
(https:)
The UFC will be very busy once “Fight Island” is officially up and running. On Friday, UFC President Dana White offered an update on plans to hold several cards on a private island starting in June. Just after the coronavirus pandemic swept the globe and crippled international travel, White and UFC co-owner Ari Emanuel devised a plan to host events on “Fight Island” to provide a home for athletes who would be unable to get into the United States. The infrastructure is currently being built on the island with White previously confirming plans for a full training facility as well as an arena where the events will be held. Unless something changes, White anticipates the first event on “Fight Island” to happen within the next several weeks.

Dana White announces full UFC on ESPN 9 lineup for May 30 in Las Vegas
(https:)
UFC on ESPN 9 has a full lineup and location to go with its May 30 date, even if it doesn’t officially have approval from a governing body. On Thursday, UFC president Dana White announced the event – headlined by a previously reported welterweight clash between ex-champion Tyron Woodley and Gilbert Burns – will take place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. At the moment, combat sports have yet to be reinstated in Nevada, but that is expected to happen next Wednesday during a Nevada Athletic Commission meeting.
