He’s telling me now that in six weeks I can start punching again, but as early as Monday I can start grappling and running and everything. I’m going to try to stay in shape, and in six weeks hopefully start getting ready for a fight some time in the fall.”
Cormier first broke his hand in the grand prix semifinals against Antonio Silva. He chose not to have surgery then, but after beating Barnett and with a move to the UFC on the horizon, he elected to fix the hand this time

Nick Diaz Reportedly Received $300,000 Bonus For Not Missing UFC 143 Press Conferences
(bloodyelbow.com)Some interesting details are emerging about Nick Diaz's punishment from the NSAC. There was talk of him losing part of a "bonus" as punishment for failing his drug test after UFC 143 for the presence of marijuana metabolites and the NSAC is now saying that the bonus in question wasn't a part of his "Fight of the Night" bonus for the fight but something else entirely.
Brett Okamoto of ESPN Tweets:
Most likely, Nick will be fined 30 percent of $200k and $65k *bonus* ... the order for that should come down within next two weeks.
The $65k bonus was not a fight night bonus. It was part of a $300k bonus Diaz received from the UFC for not missing 143 press conferences
According to Kizer, he was told Diaz lost PPV incentives after noshowing St. Pierre pc. The $300k bonus made up for those losses at 143.
It's very interesting that the UFC wanted to "make it up to him" for losing out on the Georges St. Pierre fight, which was his fault to begin with.
Dana White declined to comment on the situation to ESPN.
Update: Okamoto just explained a bit more:
The $300k bonus was supposedly made out for more than just attending press conferences, but that was the main crux acc. to Kizer.

UFC Vets Karo Parisyan And Kendall Grove Look To Rebound At Shofight
(mmanews.com)The sport of mixed martial arts is tough. There is no disputing that. Fighters experience ups and downs, wins and losses, and make sacrifices to be the very best they can be. Staying committed when you’re winning can be easy. It’s when losses come that combat athletes find out how committed they really are to the fight game.
Two fighters in such a position are former UFC stalwarts Karo “The Heat’ Parisyan and Kendall “Da Spyder” Grove. On June 16th in Springfield, Missouri, both will tangle with ultra-tough opponents, as Parisyan will battle fellow UFC vet John Gunderson, and Grove will lock horns with UFC/Strikeforce vet Terry Martin. The winner of the Parisyan-Gunderson tilt will be awarded the first ShoFIGHT welterweight belt, while either Grove or Martin will go home with ShoFIGHT middleweight strap. In short, it’s a big fight for all the competitors involved.
