LFA 72 Draws New Headliner Not Less Than 2 Away
(https:)LFA CEO Ed Soares announced on Wednesday that there will be a new main event when the promotion returns to the Valley of the Sun at LFA 72. The new headliner will feature a showdown between two of the LFA middleweight division’s top contenders.
The new main event of LFA 72 will bring a high-stakes showdown to the state capital of Arizona. The headliner will see BJJ black belt and Arizona’s own Daniel “DemiGod” Madrid face top prospect Chirs Harris in a pivotal middleweight bout. LFA 72 – Madrid vs. Harris takes place Friday, July 26th at the Comerica Theatre in Phoenix, Arizona. The main card will be televised live and nationwide on AXS TV at 10 p.m. ET / 7 p.m. PT.

Kai Kara-France vs. Mark De La Rosa Set for UFC Shenzhen
(https:)Kai Kara-France will take on Mark De La Rosa in a flyweight clash in Shenzhen, China, on Aug. 31, the UFC announced Wednesday.
Kara-France is on a seven-fight winning streak that includes a pair of wins inside the Octagon. He made his debut in December, when he beat Elias Garcia by decision at UFC Fight Night 142 and then followed that up by beating Raulian Paiva by split-decision at UFC 234. UFC Shenzhen marks the first time Kara-France will make the walk to the Octagon outside of Australia.
Unbeaten Shooto Brazil Flyweight Champ Lara Fritzen Procopio Signs with UFC
(https:)A flyweight champion for Shooto Brazil, the Belo Horizonte, Brazil, native already has a debut date set with the Las Vegas-based promotion, as she is expected to face Karolline Rosa Cavedo at UFC Shenzhen on Aug. 31.
"It's a dream come true. When the door of the Octagon closes you can be sure that I'm going to give my best. I go there to continue doing my work, giving the best of me,” Procopio said.
At age 23, Lara has an unbeaten record in six professional MMA fights and wins against Brazilian veterans like Sidy Rocha and Mariana Morais. The Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt trains at Nova Uniao with the likes of Jose Aldo, Poliana Botelho, Ketlen Vieira and Leonardo Santos, among others.
Michael Page vs. Richard Kiely set for Bellator Dublin co-main event
(https:)Michael Page seems to have been lured into fellow kickboxer Richard Kiely’s war of words as the duo are set to face off in the co-main event of Bellator Dublin on Sept. 27 at the 3 Arena.
Bellator announced the bout via the Irish Mirror on Wednesday morning after weeks of the European welterweights exchanging barbs back and forth online.
Eddie Alvarez, Eduard Folayang back in ONE lightweight tournament after Timofey Nastyukhin injury
(https:)The upcoming lightweight fight between Eddie Alvarez and Eduard Folayang, scheduled for ONE Championship’s event on Aug. 2 in Manila, will now serve as a tournament semifinal after Timofey Nastyukhin was forced to pull out of the grand prix with an injury, the promotion announced.
Alvarez (29-7, 1 no-contest), a former UFC and Bellator champion, met Nastyukhin in his ONE debut in March, losing via first-round knockout. Folayang (21-7), who lost the ONE gold to Shinya Aoki that same night in a non-tournament bout, now has a chance to join the company’s lightweight tournament.
The winner of this contest will meet Saygid Guseyn Arslanaliev (8-1) in the grand prix final. Arslanaliev earned his spot in the final after scoring a couple of first-round knockouts, stopping Ev Ting in just 25 second and then Amir Khan in less than three minutes.
Pam Sorenson vs. Kaitlin Young featherweight title fight set for Invicta FC 36
(https:)Invicta FC will return next month, and the promotion’s featherweight title will be up for grabs.
Invicta FC 36 takes place Aug. 9 at Memorial Hall in Kansas City, Kan., the promotion announced Tuesday. In the headliner, Pam Sorenson (7-3) takes on Kaitlin Young (10-9-1) for the vacant 145-pound title.
In addition, former strawweight title challenger Janaisa Morandin (10-2) takes on promotional newcomer Emily Ducote (7-5) in a strawweight bout in the co-main event.

Reigning two-division champion Patricio “Pitbull” Freire will enter the tournament with his title up for grabs in every fight with Juan Archuleta as the first fighter attempting to take away the 145-pound belt.
Freire is coming off a stunning first-round knockout to dethrone Michael Chandler in a lightweight title fight and now he returns to his natural weight class to participate in the Bellator featherweight grand prix.
Ryan Bader vs. Cheick Kongo, featherweight grand prix kickoff set for Bellator 226
(https:)It’s settled: Two-division Bellator champion Ryan Bader is defending his heavyweight title next.
On Thursday, the promotion announced that Bader will return Sept. 7 when he puts his belt on the line against French striker Cheick Kongo in the night’s main event at Bellator 226.
Bader (27-5 MMA, 5-0 BMMA) captured the heavyweight strap after winning the Bellator heavyweight grand prix with a 35-second knockout of Russian legend Fedor Emelianenko in the tournament final last January. That victory also saw him become a two-division champion, with the heavyweight title joining the light heavyweight strap he won from Phil Davis in his promotional debut back in June 2017.
Elizeu Zaleski vs. Li Jingliang set for UFC Shenzhen
(https:)It’s the second time the UFC has booked this matchup between these two welterweight action fighters.
A welterweight bout with Fight of the Night potential is slated for the UFC’s return to mainland China.
MMA Fighting reports that Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos and Li Jingliang have been booked for UFC Shenzhen, which takes place on August 31st. This matchup was scheduled for for UFC Beijing last November, only for Zaleski to withdraw with an injury.
Dana White's Contender Series 19 results: All five winners get UFC deals
(https:)Joe Solecki (8-2) impressed in his Dana White’s Contender Series debut, outgrappling Jesse Wallace (9-3) to secure a fist-round submission win.
The contest served as the featured bout of Tuesday’s Dana White’s Contender Series 19 event from the UFC Apex and streamed on ESPN+.
Wallace got to the center to start, but it was Solecki who would set the pace, darting in and out of range to strike before changing levels and dragging the action to the floor. The ensuing scramble saw Solecki work to the dominant position, where he used strikes to open up opportunities to improve his position, eventually getting to the back.
UFC veteran John Lineker signs with ONE Championship
(https:)It didn’t take long for John Lineker to find a new home.
Days after being released for the UFC after a 12-4 run in the eight-sided cage, “Hands of Stone” inked a multi-fight deal with ONE Championship, he told MMA Fighting on Monday.
ONE Championship has yet to book Lineker’s promotional debut. Lineker will compete as a bantamweight, which means 145 pounds under ONE Championship's rules.
Beneil Dariush injured, Drakkar Klose needs new opponent for Saturday's UFC on ESPN+ 13
(https:)Injury has forced Beneil Dariush out of Saturday’s UFC on ESPN+ 13 event, and UFC officials are currently seeking a lightweight opponent to meet Drakkar Klose.
MMA Junkie today learned from promotion officials that Dariush had to withdraw from the card, which takes place at Golden1 Center in Sacramento, Calif. A timeline for his return was not immediately established.

Dana White says Luke Rockhold broke jaw at UFC 239, urges ex-champ to 'hang it up'
(https:)UFC president Dana White believes it’s time for Luke Rockhold to retire after the former champion was knocked out in brutal fashion yet again at UFC 239.
Rockhold (16-5 MMA, 6-4 UFC), the former UFC and Strikeforce middleweight champion, had his light heavyweight debut spoiled in a gruesome manner when he was floored by Jan Blachowicz (24-8 MMA, 7-5 UFC) in the second round on Saturday.
All five of Rockhold’s career defeats have come by knockout, and at 34, White said the time could be right to move on from competition.

John Lineker released from UFC contract after 16-fight tenure
(https:)Bantamweight contender John Lineker has been released from his UFC contract.
After pleading for a fight, Lineker (31-9 MMA, 12-4 UFC) was given a co-main event spot against Rob Font at UFC on ESPN+ 12 this past month. He withdrew from the fight just days out, though, after allegedly suffering a facial laceration during his weight cut.
That withdrawal seemingly didn’t put the Brazilian in the UFC’s good graces, because just weeks later he is no longer with the company, MMA Junkie confirmed with a person close to the situation.
