Why Ben Askren absolutely cannot afford to lose his UFC debut
You look at the matchup between Ben Askren and Robbie Lawler at UFC 235 and right away it jumps out as the kind of fight that everybody knows what each guy’s thing is, and it’s just a question of finding out which one of them will get to do it. For Askren, that thing includes takedowns, top control, the kind of striking any bullying big brother would respect, maybe even a submission if the situation cries out for one.

Bellator 215: Mitrione vs. Kharitonov live stream, play-by-play, results, and discussion (Spoiler)
Main card (9pm ET) Logan Storley vs. Ion Pascu Round 1 - Storey with a lead right and a body kick. Inside leg kick from Pascu. Storley in on a double but Pascu flips him over. They scramble. Storley has him on his knees but can’t flatten him onto his back. Now he’s on his butt. This just a wrestling stalemate. Finally Storley scoops him up and slams Pascu to the mat. He’s working in half but not much is happening. Couple of elbows get through. Few punches too. Storley isn’t even trying to get past half guard. 10-9 Storley. Round 2 - Head kick from Storley. He gets on a single leg and puts Pascu on his back. Back to half guard. He lands a few elbows. Now some rights. Pascu eats an elbow as he tries to escape. He doesn’t escape. Pascu gets full guard back. This isn’t exactly riveting stuff. Back to half. Couple of short elbows. The crowd is booing for the second fight in a row. 10-9 Storley. Round 3 - Storley level changes and almost gets Pascu down. He can’t, but he does on the second attempt. Pascu attacks an arm immediately, but there’s nothing happening. Pascu gets to his knees, but he can’t get any further than that. Pascu tries to attack a kimura again. Again, it goes approximately nowhere. Shockingly, Storley gets to half guard and grinds away. The crowd boos. An elbow gets through. Two pretty bad fights in a row. 10-9 and 30-27 Storley.

Dana White says Khabib Nurmagomedov can’t sit out until the end of the year with lightweight title
Khabib Nurmagomedov is playing a dangerous game. Last month, the UFC lightweight champion was handed down a nine month suspension, retroactive to October, for his role in starting a brawl at UFC 229. His punishment also included a option to reduce the suspension by three months if he participated in an anti-bullying public service announcement. Instead, Nurmagomedov has gone the other way, saying not only does he refuse to do the PSA, he also refuses to fight again until the one-year suspension of his teammates, Zubaira Tukhugov and Abubakar Nurmagomedov, are over as well and is targeting a November return.
