Joe Lauzon Interview
Excerpt: Adam Morgan: Yeah, I saw you had some pictures posted up on The Underground Forum where it said you were at roughly 185 about 48 hours out from the fight. Is that true? Joe Lauzon: That was a big joke. My brother and my roommate Brandon were in the hotel lobby and they heard Reinhardt was getting a little scared, you know, “Joe’s running around at 185! He’s so big!” and all this other stuff. So they started talking like “Oh, I can’t believe Joe’s 185. It’ll be a tough cut but he’ll make it.” So we just sort of ran with it to play on his paranoia a little bit. Too funny

Sherk calls BJ Penn a "Punk"
SS:" I think BJ Penn is a punk. Who the hell is he? He's won one fight in a couple of years now and it's just whatever man. He wants to make all of these rules and regulations, but who the hell is he? I'm the champ in my eyes so I don't care if he fights me or not, there's a whole bunch of guys that could fight me right now. It's his loss, not mine. He needs me more than I need him." My opinion is that he will probably get to fight a whole bunch of guys, he just might not be fighting for or defending the belt. I think he definately got screwed, but that's just the way it goes sometimes.

Paulo Filho fights for honor
As a teenager, Filho would go to the various Karate, Muay Thai, boxing and Jiu-Jitsu academies in and around Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and challenge the top fighters. “I would go to the academy and say, ‘Hey, I want to prove to you that my art is better than yours,’” Filho said. “We would have a Vale Tudo match right there. “There were weeks when I would fight five times in a week. I have no idea how many fights I had, but definitely over 100.” Check out the rest of this new feature from the OC Register:

Filho Counting on Diverse Skills to Stop Sonnen
Paulo Filho (Pictures) returns to the WEC on Wednesday to defend his middleweight title against Chael Sonnen (Pictures). Several Brazilian MMA stars helped Filho prepare for the bout, and he has guaranteed that he will walk into the cage in the best shape of his life. "The drills were excellent, as always," Filho told Sherdog.com. "Guys as high caliber as [the Nogueira brothers] came here to help me, in addition to my coach, Josuel Distak, and many other friends. I think it certainly will make a difference."

WEC 31 and HDNet: Reckless Abandon (Preview)
After an exciting finale to the sixth season of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) this past weekend, I think it’s safe to say that the state of mixed martial arts is definitely good. Even with some disappointing and sad news in the sport, such as UFC lightweight champion Sean Sherk being stripped of his title for testing positive for steroids and MMA’s first death in 35-year-old Sammy Vazquez, the sport is still growing rapidly. And that’s why we are having more and more great events, even outside of the UFC. Cases in point are the two events on the docket this week. First up on Wednesday is the best card in World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC) history with WEC 31. There are three title fights on this card, plus the debut of former UFC lightweight champion Jens Pulver in both the WEC and the 145-pound featherweight division. And then on Saturday, Mark Cuban’s HDNet organization holds their second big event. They have some notable big names on this card, and it seems as though they are growing by the day. Signings of guys like Jason “Mayhem” Miller, Frank Trigg, and Yves Edwards have been huge for this budding company. Here is the preview of the both events, with my picks for each fight.

UFC.com Article On Retirement Of "Big" John McCarthy
It was the perfect going away gift for a referee • Saturday’s lightweight war between Roger Huerta and Clay Guida. But like all great ‘third men’, John McCarthy • who retired as an active referee following last weekend’s main event - was noticeable by being noly noticeable, making all the right moves and all the right calls, a fitting end to a 13 year journey that saw McCarthy become as much a part of the UFC as the great fighters who have graced its Octagon. Gonna miss you BJM

Belfort will meet UFC matchmaker Joe Silva on Wednesday, the Brazilian told Sherdog.com, and is specifically looking to avenge his last bout in the UFC, a split decision loss to Tito Ortiz.
