Henri Hooft says Anthony Johnson’s post-MMA career ‘has to do with football’
Anthony Johnson may not be aiming to be the next great linebacker for the Los Angeles Rams, but according to Johnson’s longtime head coach Henri Hooft, the next career for the newly retired UFC light heavyweight contender still has something to do with the gridiron. “I’m not going to go into details, because I don’t know the real details, but everybody sees his (social media) pages and it has to do with football,” Hooft said Monday on The MMA Hour. “I don’t know, I didn’t really discuss the details, but he seems to be busy with this for awhile and enjoying it. It has something to do, totally different than with MMA, and I think if you really want to stop fighting, you really need to step away from it, because if you keep hanging in there, you’ll probably get lured back in there.

Daniel Cormier explains controversial UFC 210 weigh-in
Regardless of your take on what went down at the chaotic UFC 210 official weigh-ins Friday in Buffalo, on one item, there’s little room for dispute: UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier had one brutal weight cut. Cormier initially weighed in at 206.2 pounds, 1.2 pounds above the division’s championship weight limit, then re-weighed less then three minutes later at 205 on the nose, making his matchup with challenger Anthony Johnson official...

NYSAC pulls Pearl Gonzalez from UFC card due to breast implants
Things just got even more bizarre in Buffalo. Minutes after Daniel Cormier controversially made weight on his second attempt, the New York State Athletic Commission (NYSAC) pulled Pearl Gonzalez from UFC 210 on Friday morning because she has breast implants, sources told MMA Fighting’s Ariel Helwani. The commission does not allow fighters to compete with implants, per their rules. Gonzalez was supposed to face Cynthia Calvillo on the UFC 210 main card Saturday night at KeyBank Arena.

UFC 210 weigh-ins end with a scare
The official UFC 210 weigh-ins stream live from the UFC host hotel in Buffalo, NY at 9:00 a.m. ET, courtesy of MMAjunkie. The ceremonial weigh-in and faceoffs will stream courtesy of the UFC live at 4:00 p.m. ET from KeyBank Center in Buffalo, the same venue that hosts Saturday’s event. The dual weigh-ins mean fighters have longer to rehydrate in the morning, but still can do the afternoon ceremonial weigh-ins and faceoffs that have become a tradition in the UFC. There was a scare when Cormier and Johnson weighed in with only minutes left. DC weighed in at 206.2, but returned two minutes later and was 205. Johnson then weighed in with seconds to go at 203.8 and the entire card was official.

Gastelum pulled from Silva fight over positive test for THC
The UFC’s independent drug testing agency does not test for recreational drugs outside of competition. However, marijuana is tested for in-competition. Alcohol is treated similarly – you are not tested for alcohol out of competition, but are prohibited from fighting while drunk. Mandatory Guidelines for Federal Workplace Drug Testing Programs have a cutoff of 50 ng/ML. World Anti-Doping Agency has a threshold of 150 ng/ML. USADA uses 180 ng/ML. And UFC fighter Kelvin Gastelum tested positive above that level during his last fight, which was in March. As a consequence, Gastelum has been pulled from his fight with Anderson Silva at UFC 212.

Oops! UFC advertises Daniel Cormier vs. Anthony Johnson as heavyweight championship bout
There’s apparently been a late change to the UFC 210 main event between Daniel Cormier and Anthony Johnson. It was widely believed that Cormier was defending his UFC light heavyweight title on April 8th, but as was observed at Wednesday’s media day session, there’s no need for either man to cut down to 205 lbs.

Bellator 175 post-event facts: 'King Mo' joins Bellator's 10-win club
Bellator 175 went down on Friday and featured a five-fight main card on Spike at Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Ill. In the heavyweight main event, Muhammed Lawal (21-6 MMA, 10-4 BMMA) got the revenge he’d been wanting for nearly three years when he outworked rival Quinton Jackson (37-12 MMA, 4-1 BMMA) over 15 minutes for the unanimous decision victory. Similar to the first fight, the showdown between “King Mo” and “Rampage” lacked signifiant action. It produced a different winner, though, and that was one of several notable happenings at Bellator’s sixth show of the year. For more, check below for 25 post-event facts about Bellator 175...
