'Chippendale' Marquardt 'had it coming' - Hardy
(espn.co.uk)Dan Hardy, a long-term trash talk target of Nate Marquardt, has had his say on the American's testosterone scandal, telling him "it's all about hard work in the gym".
Hardy has found himself on the wrong end of Marquardt's tongue on more than one occasion, most notably when Marquardt claimed the Brit did not deserve his title shot against Georges St-Pierre.

"I haven’t seen Wanderlei, I’m in San Diego and he’s in Las Vegas, but I was sad about the defeat", said Shogun, on a chat with TATAME. "It’s really sad to see Wanderlei getting knocked out like that, but what can we do, it happens with who is up there".
"Wanderlei was doing fine, motivated, thrilled, he wanted to fight really badly… We trained together before the fight and he was glad."

Sherdog Rankings
(sherdog.com)
To say that June 26 did not go as planned for a number of world-ranked fighters would be a massive understatement.
That day, at Pittsburgh's Consol Energy Center, former UFC middleweight contender Nate Marquardt did not make his expected welterweight debut against Rick Story at UFC Live 4. Instead, Marquardt found himself ejected from the UFC due to elevated levels of testosterone, and Charlie Brenneman stepped into the opportunity of a lifetime. As foretold by the tattoo on his lower back, Brenneman seized the day and stopped the six-fight winning streak of Story in a unanimous decision, propelling "The Spaniard" into this edition of Sherdog.com's welterweight rankings.
....I'm interested to see what you guys think about these rankings. I'll give my two cents later, but I think they're actually really good for Sherdog rankings.
With no broken bones, Brian Bowles campaigns for shot at UFC champ Dominick Cruz
(mmajunkie.com)After an X-ray showed no broken bones in his hands, Brian Bowles is now campaigning for a shot to reclaim a belt.
The former WEC bantamweight champion scored a decision victory over Takeya Mizugaki this past weekend at UFC 132.
Now, he wants to avenge his only career defeat, which came to current UFC 135-pound champion Dominick Cruz back in early 2010.
"Hand is good," Bowles tweeted on Tuesday night. "I want that title shot, I feel I deserve it, and I'm next in line."
Machida took One of Coutures teeth so Sonnen is taking three of his.
(fiveknuckles.com)
As usual nothing but contraversy from mr.Sonnen.
here's a quote:
"I would ask for an easy fight," Sonnen said tounge in cheek. "Or I'd ask for somebody that's just not very good. I always hear these guys saying that they want the hardest fights possible. Well I don't. I'm a fan of easy fights. That's why I called Anderson (Silva) out. Because he sucks.
"I guess I could go up to heavyweight. Who's this other bum that their letting back in with the checkered shorts? Cro Cop? That be a nice night off."
and later
"Hey Wanderlei, let me give you a threat. I will cut the power to your house and do a home invasion. You will hear me climbing up the stairs in a pair of night vision goggles I bought in the back of 'Solder of Fortune' magazine. The next thing you'll hear is me picking the lock of your bedroom door and taking a photograph of you in bed with the Nogueira brothers working on your jiu-jitsu. I will post said photograph at www.DorksFromBrazil.com with password: not required, username: not required.

UFC names top five Octagon newcomers for 2011 half-year awards
(mmamania.com)Ah, yes. Another top five list.
With 2011 halfway through, it's time to roll out some typical mid-year awards. Filler? Maybe. Fun? Most definitely.
The subject of this particular list (courtesy of UFC.com), is UFC newcomers. It's an important distinction to make that this is not a reference to "Zuffa newcomers" or even "MMA newcomers" -- quite simply, the qualifier is that 2011 has to be the only year a participant has finally seen competition inside the Octagon.

Fedor Emelianenko Talks Retirement, His Legacy, and Possible Drop to Light Heavyweight
(mmaweekly.com)Why do we fall? So that we can learn to pick ourselves up.” – Batman Begins
Former Pride champion Fedor Emelianenko echoed a similar quote when he lost via submission to Fabricio Werdum in 2010. Prior to that loss, the Russian legend had never truly tasted defeat before.
Unfortunately, Emelianenko picked himself back up only to be put down again by massive heavyweight Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva when the two met in February this year. The loss not only gave Emelianenko the second true loss on his ultra impressive record, but back-to-back defeats at that.

Bloodyelbow's Number One Ranked Scouting Report Lightweight Thiago Michel Signs With Bellator
(bloodyelbow.com)BloodyElbow.com's #1 ranked lightweight on the 2011 World MMA Scouting Report, Thiago Michel, has signed with Bellator. BloodyElbow.com confirmed through a source close to the fighter last Friday. The 2010 WAKO World Cup kickboxing champion is rumored to possibly make his debut in the fall, around September or October in a tune-up bout before attempting to capitalize on an opportunity to fight for the Bellator lightweight crown by fighting in the tournament format.
Michel is currently 8-2 in his mixed martial arts career, amassing a 1-1 record since the Scouting Report was released in November. A loss to Alessandro Ferreira soured some fans who were intrigued with our report as Michel's lacking ground game was exploited by a better grappler. He rebounded five months later against Erick Barbosa at Brazil Fight 4 in a highly-entertaining showcase of his diverse striking prowess, utilizing improved takedown defense and a versatile kicking game.
