More on Singer vs. Masterson
link I believe this fight has less to do with Singer or Masterson and more to do with another evolution that has to happen in MMA: the development of acceptable scoring criteria. When you combine different sports into one as is the case with MMA, you also import the different scoring criteria and values that underwrite them from each sport. Unfortunately, sometimes those different criteria either conflict or confuse the process.

Proposed MMA Legislation Could Hurt Smaller Shows
link Last month the Illinois House of Representatives passed H.B. 1947 by a vote of 96-10. If the bill is approved by the Illinois Senate and governor, promoters of professional MMA shows would be required to obtain a minimum of $50,000 of insurance for each fighter and have at least $10,000 in liquid assets or a surety bond to ensure the show can meet its financial obligations. The bill would also prohibit promoters from also participating as trainers, fighters, referees or judges. Illinois Boxing Commission spokeswoman Sue Hofer told InsideFighting.com that the purpose of the legislation is to ensure that MMA is carefully regulated in the state and on equal footing with boxing. “We want to treat MMA exactly the same as boxing in Illinois.”

UFC 70 preview: Bisping vs. Sinosic
link Don’t be fooled by Elvis Sinosic’s 8-9-2 record, he will be a very game test for the promising Brit’ Bisping. When Sinosic met Forrest Griffin in 2005 he gave the reality star all he could handle on the feet until a left hook found a home on his chin. Bisping has a decent ground game (even a rumored submission over Tito Ortiz while training) but he will want to keep this fight on the feet. Elvis will be much obliged. “The King” will bring a lot out of Michael Bisping that we haven’t seen yet. Look for an exciting fight with a lot of crowd participation. Bisping lives forty minutes from M.E.N Arena, if he lived any closer he would be fighting in his own backyard.
