Rashad Evans - His Time Has Come
Trash Talk? Rashad Evans has heard it all and it doesn’t faze him one bit. But it’s not the incessant smack being delivered by his opponent this Saturday night, Tito Ortiz, that has hardened the light heavyweight contender. Nah, as one of eight children, Evans learned his lessons in the fine art of gamesmanship years ago, before he even stepped into the Octagon.

Tito Ortiz - Last Stand or a Rebirth?
Tito Ortiz once stood where Rashad Evans now stands. Almost a decade ago, ‘The Huntington Beach Bad Boy’ was the young gun in the UFC, ready to take on the veteran stars of the Octagon, Guy Mezger and Jerry Bohlander. Ortiz had already suffered a defeat in his career (to Mezger), something Evans hasn’t yet experienced in his 15 pro bouts, but despite his one loss, there was a sense of excitement around the charismatic Californian, of a changing of the guard, something Evans hopes to repeat on Saturday’s UFC 73 card in Sacramento, California.

Denied Licensure In California, 7-foot-2 Behemoth Eyes Fight In Hong Kong
CHOI TO FACE GOODRIDGE ************************ Hong Man Choi will fight MMA veteran Gary Goodridge in the K-1 World Grand Prix Aug. 5 at the Asia World-Expo Arena in Hong Kong, according to the Fighting and Entertainment Group’s K-1 Web site. The 7-foot-2, 355-pound Choi was denied a license in the state of California a little more than a month ago when he failed pre-fight medicals for his scheduled main event bout with Brock Lesnar at K-1 “Dynamite!! USA” June 2 in Los Angeles. The California State Athletic Commission did not release the reason behind its refusal to grant Choi a license, though K-1 representatives told the foreign press the week of the “Dynamite!! USA” show that the denial centered on a tumor found during required medical testing. The same representatives indicated to the press that they did not believe the tumor was dangerous and that Choi could have fought. Choi’s bout with Goodridge will follow traditional K-1 kickboxing rules and will be contested over three three-minute rounds; a two-round extension will be added if necessary. Inquiries have been made to CSAC Executive Director Armando Garcia regarding what impact Choi’s K-1 appearance would have on his future in California. The K-1 World Grand Prix was moved from its original date (July 29) to Aug. 5 due to conflicts with Upper House elections and Fuji’s television schedule. Other participants scheduled to appear include four-time K-1 Japan Grand Prix champion Musashi and two-time Grand Prix champion Remy Bonjaski.

Unbeaten Canadian eyes UFC debut against Edgar.
BOCEK MAKES FIGHTING A FAMILY AFFAIR Growing up in Canada most young males dream of making it to the National Hockey League. The dream is fostered by the country’s undying love of its national pastime. Toronto native Mark Bocek’s aspirations, although different from those of many of his childhood friends, required the same dedication and support from his family. Treks in snow and sleet to practices through which less-committed teammates chose to sleep were commonplace for Bocek and his family. They wanted him to succeed in the sport he loved – martial arts.........Read the rest at->>>>
