That’s the latest word from UFC President Dana White on today’s conference call to promote UFC 74: “Respect” on August 25. Keep in mind: Nothing is signed at this time and there is no precise word on a date and/or location for the potential showdown.

Martin Kampmann sets his sights on early 2008 return
Quoteworthy: “The injury is getting better. But slowly and still a long way to go. I’ve started boxing again, but still no grappling or wrestling yet. Don’t have full range of motion in the knee and still lacking muscle, but working on it in rehab. I hope I can return to fighting in the beginning of the new year. I miss it a lot and can’t wait.” Kampmann is rehabbing a knee injury that he sustained during training prior to his scheduled bout with former UFC middleweight champion Rich Franklin at UFC 72: “Victory” in June. He boasts a perfect record inside the Octagon with wins over Crafton Wallace, Thales Leites and Drew McFedries. This is the entire article but here is the link if you want to check it out.

Villasenor replaces Vitale in Fukada fight.
The undercard was also expected to feature a middleweight contenders’ bout between Falaniko Vitale and Riki Fukuda, but that was before Vitale instead, according to Sherdog.com, accepted an offer to fight for K-1 and Strikeforce. In the wake of Vitale’s exodus, Greg Jackson-trained fighter Joey Villasenor has agreed to take the fight with Fukuda in the hopes of getting a return match against either Ninja or Lawler, both of whom he has lost to.

UFC hasnt talked about putting Arlovski on a card for some time now
Arlovski Where Are You? I have been seeing more and more talk about where the hell is Andrei Arlovski. I mean the guy was suppose to be in line for a title fight but because of his last “lackluster” performance he apparently has been shelved now for some 4 months. Dana’s last comments were: “His last showing wasn’t very great. That hurts a guy. It sets you back when you have a real bad showing like that, especially when you’re in a division that’s stacked” Even UFCJunkie reported that they talked to Arlovski’s manager and they haven’t even been talked to about putting him on a card anytime soon. Is it just me or should Arlovski be getting a bit more respect than he currently is getting. I mean the guy had one mediocre fight and now he can’t be found anywhere. At least the guy won his last match unlike some fighters like Jardine that got another match right off the back. I guess I’m a bit frustrated because I am a huge Arlovski fan and want to see him back! that is the whole article

MMAWeekly has learned that Rani Yahya is set to replace Manny Tapia at WEC 30 against Chase Beebe for the WEC Bantamweight Championship. Beebe was originally scheduled to defend his WEC Bantamweight Championship for the first time against former King of the Cage Flyweight Champion Manny Tapia, but Tapia has been forced to pull out of the fight due to a knee injury. Yahya will now step in to replace Tapia as Beebe’s first challenger. Yahya was already rumored to be on the card to face Brian Bowles in his debut at bantamweight, as Yahya moves down from 145lbs to 135lbs. Edit: WEC's Website confirms it.
