Kitaoka Locked In for Upcoming PRIDE Lightweight GP
Kitaoka's win signifies the first confirmed entry in the much-anticipated 16-man tournament. It also triggers speculation about a possible match against sometimes-training partner Shinya Aoki, who is also expected to compete in the tournament.
Arona’s mind on the ADCC
Ricardo Arona has no time to lament. Knocked out by Rameau Sokodjou last Sunday, at Pride 34, the Brazilian Top Team black belt is already looking ahead and worrying about getting over the illness - suspected dengue fever - that affected his performance in his battle with the Cameroonian. "I am confirmed at the ADCC, to fight in the under-99kg category. I want to get better fast, as I have little time,"said Arona to GRACIEMAG.com.
When questioned about the possibility of facing Roger Gracie in the superfight, since the current champion Dean Lister is out due to injury, Arona says he sees no problem in that. “I don’t know anything about that yet, but I would surely accept. That even picks me up a bit, it would be an interesting fight,” said Arona, who was absent from the last ADCC because of the Pride middleweight Grand Prix, and thus did not defend the superfight title he won in 2003 with a win over Mark Kerr.
Set for the 5th and 6th of May, ADCC 2007 has not yet announced the substitute for Dean Lister. So stay tuned to GRACIEMAG.com to find out all the news relating to the greatest submission grappling event on the planet.
Interview with Cobra Kai's Sonny "Boy" Nohara
On December 16, 2006, Sonny "Boy" Nohara received his brown-belt from the "American Ronin" Marc Laimon; making him just the fifth person ever to receive this rank at Las Vegas' famed Cobra Kai Academy. What's even more impressive is that Sonny achieved this feat after training jiu-jitsu for only four and a half years. A native of Hilo, Hawaii, Sonny has won many gi and no-gi tournaments all over the west coast, which have included many advanced, purple-belt, and super fight matches. Fortunately, I was able to catch up with Cobra Kai's newest brown-belt just before he competes in the GQ U.S. Nationals Pro Flyweight 8-man tournament this Saturday in Las Vegas.
Gary “Big Daddy” Goodridge Interview
Marlene: In the Future do you plan to stay in K-1 or can we expect to see Big daddy back in MMA?
Big Daddy: Absolutely, I thought I was going fight UFC last year, but who knows maybe this year, the year is still young. We’ll see what happens I’m open to offers, I’ve had offers to fights in other shows but I don’t want to sell myself cheap.

Randy Couture on Fedor: "If I get to fight him I'll be all over that
Nokaut: With the purchase of PRIDE the big talk isn’t so much your next title fight, instead the big name popping up is Fedor. What are your thoughts there?
Randy: I think contrary to what most people think, Fedor has his hands full with Matt Lindland here this weekend [laughs]. Matt is one of those junkyard dogs that doesn’t go away easily and has a tendency to make everybody’s fights look terrible. You can’t count Matt out, even if he still loses but makes a good fight out of it, it is still a win-win for him. I think Fedor is, no question, pound for pound probably the best fighter in the world right now and with the two organizations sort of coming under the same ownership it certainly opens the possibility for me to fight him. I got into this to fight the best guys so if I get to fight him I’ll be all over that.
LONDON CALLING: GOVERNING BODIES IN THE U.K.
So what can be done? A national governing body would be ideal and, to a certain degree, I think that might be what the UFC will be aiming at, as I know they have been talking to the UK boxing governing body with regards to regulations. But at present, we don’t have the sport monitoring that the US has. I think it will only be a matter of time before this develops and takes hold, I just hope that someone doesn’t get seriously hurt before a change in the proceedings.
