Big Nog vs Vera Rumor
I hope its true
With Randy Couture, Mirko Cro Cop Filipovic, Gabriel Gonzaga, Andrei Arlovski and Fabricio Werdum all tied up in the near future, there are few “big name” fighters available to fight the former PRIDE FC heavyweight champion.
In fact, the only other competitive option besides Vera is former UFC heavyweight titleholder Tim Sylvia.
Of course, the UFC can feed Nogueira a can or journeyman to build up name recognition among fans.
But a showdown with someone like Vera — a young and exciting fighter — would no doubt be a solid addition to any pay-per-view (PPV) card.
Report: UFC Eyeing UFC 74 for Georges St. Pierre’s Return

Leonard Garcia Earns Second Shot at UFC Win
UFC rookie Leonard Garcia (9-2 MMA, 0-1 UFC), who battled Roger Huerta (17-1-1 MMA, 3-0 UFC) in one of UFC 69’s most entertaining fights, will be invited back to the UFC for a second fight, according to the Houston Chronicle’s Steve Sievert.
Garcia, who filled in for Alvin Robinson on just one month’s notice, dropped a unanimous decision to Huerta. But his constant smiling and refusal to slow down for 15 full minutes earned him a standing ovation at the bout’s conclusion.
It also earned him a second shot at a UFC victory.
Cincinnati Likely to Host October UFC Event
UFCjunkie.com has heard from a few sources this past week that the UFC still intends to put on an event in Cincinnati later this year, and it could happen as soon as October. Hall of Fame boxing referee Richard Steele is the latest of the masses out there to try and throw their hat into the mixed martial arts arena. Steele will be starting a new promotion called "Steele Cage Promotions." The first card will take place on July 7 in Las Vegas. Signed to fight on the card are former UFC fighters Marvin Eastman and David Loiseau. After months of deliberations, one of the most anticipated showdowns in mixed martial arts history will finally come to fruition when former UFC middleweight champion, Frank Shamrock, battles fellow knockout artist and consummate showman, “The New York Badass” Phil Baroni, for the vacant Strikeforce world middleweight (185 lb. limit) championship during the main event of “Judgment Day,” a live, Pay Per View televised Strikeforce-EliteXC cage fight card that will take place at San Jose, California’s HP Pavilion on Friday, June 22nd.
Future PRIDE plans
Daily Sports has a report quoting Nobuhiko Takada about the upcoming Lightweight GP tournament. Takada is quoted as saying that it will begin on July 16th at Nagoya’s Rainbow Hall. Interestingly enough, he also claims that PRIDE 35 will take place in California this June.
In Nikkan Sports, Takada discusses a proposal to create a large PRIDE-themed museum (and gym) in Roppongi (Tokyo).
Some Joe Doerkson News.
Joe Doerksen has signed a 3 fight contract with Pride and is rumored to fight in the next Pride card, He has recently trained with Rich Franklin helping prepare Franklin for Jason. He also trained with Jeremy 'Gumby' Horn, and last weekend had a warm-up fight in Japan in DEEP. Joe won via Triangle choke. Is anyone excited to see how he fairs in Pride. He has recently fought in the IFL and has faught Matt Lindland in the UFC which he lost and therefore didn't get another fight in the UFC. I have been impressed with his performance and wanna see how a fellow Canadian will do in Pride. So anyone wanna send some War Doerksen for some good luck in his upcoming fights?
Fedor vs Lindland
"I absolutely, absolutely would like a rematch,” said Lindland. “I’m not saying the outcome would have been any different but that’s a much different fight if the referee does what he’s supposed to and I wind up on top and am able to utilize my skills there.”
