UFC's Negotiations with Fedor "hit a snag"
(mmajunkie.com) Famed PRIDE heavyweight champion Fedor Emelianenko and UFC officials were painstakingly close to reaching an agreement, but a final contact that arrived at the fighter’s camp contained terms that were “absolutely different” than what had originally been negotiated, reports the the website for the M-1 organization, which is operated by Vadim Finkelstein. (Finkelstein is Emelianenko’s manager.)
Tito Ortiz To Re-Sign With UFC
(mmanews.com)In an interview with the website IronLife.com, "The Huntington Beach Bad Boy" Tito Ortiz says he is going to re-sign with UFC.
I'm looking forward to Tito staying around, seems like Lorenzo Fertitta (co-owner of Zuffa, the parent company of UFC) was able to give him a good enough deal to keep him around.
New Paulo Filho Interview
(tatame.com)Short but to the point interview with the WEC 185 lb champ. He talks about wanting to move up in weight and calls out Doug Marshall for his 205 belt, and evetually fighting the best like rampage, hendo and shogun. He even mentions wanting a crack at a heavyweight.
Main Event Set, Carano Struggles to Make Weight
(sherdog.com)Carano, who came it at 141.1 pounds, appeared weak while doing a one-leg balancing act on the scale. With promoters briefly discussing whether the Las Vegan would need to drop the weight, Carano's opponent Tonya Evinger (Pictures) looked on, surprised to learn that there was a one-pound weight allowance.
Carano, shaky and on weak legs, rushed to take a seat, where she gulped down Pedialite before Evinger finally conceded and the fight was made official. As the two squared off for the traditional staredown, Carano barely had the energy to keep her arms raised, eventually opting to fold them across her chest.
EliteXC: Evinger wants to make out with Carano
(fiveouncesofpain.com)Normally I try to take a mature approach when it comes to female fighting. My wife is a semi-pro Muay Thai fighter and I’ve trained with females before. I know how hard it can be at times for them to be taken seriously and treated lake legitimate athletes.
But hey, I’m going to break from tradition here, thanks in large part to a comment made by Tonya Evinger during yesterday’s local press conference in Hawaii to hype EliteXC’s Uprising card this Saturday at the Blaisdell Center.
Awesome Nick Diaz interview
(sportsline.com)This is a pretty cool interview! It is definitely worth the read!
Whether you agree with his views or not, you have got to love Nick for being such an honest, strait forward guy.
Jake Shields: "I Want To Finish Him"
(mmaweekly.com)EliteXC Welterweight fighter Jake Shields, ranked #8 in the world by MMAWeekly, is set to take on Renato "Charuto" Verissimo Saturday night on the Showtime portion of the event. Shields thinks he can knock Verissimo out standing.
It'll be interesting to see if Shields can back up his claims, not to mention this is the 3rd time they've tried to do the fight (first time was in a tournament, second time the event was postponed).
Clementi vs. Johnson Added To UFC 76
(mmaweekly.com)Rich Clementi vs. Anthony Johnson has been added to UFC 76. The fight between UFC & TUF veteran Clementi and UFN 10 participant Johnson was signed last night, bringing the UFC 76 card back up to 9 fights.
This might be a bad fight for Clementi, his last fight was less than 2 weeks ago so that won't give him much time to recover and prepare.

UFC 'Bad Boy' Recites Tale of Drug Use
(pahrumpvalleytimes.com)Ultimate Fighting Championship notable Tito Ortiz, who recited his own hard luck story, gave drug court graduates a bit of advice at the annual graduation dinner Friday night: "I look in the mirror before I go to bed at night, and I respect myself, and I know each one of you can do the same."
Ortiz-Evans 2 Now Likely For UFC 78
(mmanews.com)The much-anticipated Tito Ortiz vs. Rashad Evans rematch now appears set to happen at UFC 78 on November 17 in Newark, NJ. Ortiz and Evans first met at UFC 73: “Stacked” on July 7, fighting to a draw after Ortiz was docked 1 point for grabbing the fence.
I was hoping it would've been a little sooner as originally planned, but at least it's going to happen in the not-so-distant future. Hopefully the ending won't be as controversial as the first time.
IFL Releases Anacondas Coach
(mmaweekly.com)Shawn Tompkins has been released from his duties as the head coach of the IFL' Los Angeles Anacondas. Kurt Otto, the co-founder and commissioner of the International Fight League, confirmed to MMAWeekly on Wednesday evening that he made the decision to release Tompkins. Tompkins took over the Anacondas as the handpicked successor to original head coach Bas Rutten earlier this year in March.
Personally I'm not too familiar with how the IFL runs their teams, so this is a rather interesting item to me. I can understand why the decision was made but normally I would expect the coach or head of the team to make such a decision.
WEC Fighter Fails Post-Fight Drug Test
(mmaweekly.com)Mixed martial artist Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone failed his post-fight drug test at last week's WEC 30 event, according to the NSAC. Cerrone tested positive for Hydrochlorothiazide, a diuretic that can be used by athletes to assist in weight-cutting by impeding the kidney's water-retaining capabilities. It can also be used to treat medical conditions such as high blood pressure and congestive heart failure.
Looking at the picture of him in the article, he does look like he had to cut a lot of weight to get down to 155 for the fight, which is probably why he took the banned substance. His left abdominal area just looks too unnatural compared to the rest of his midsection.
