MMA Junkie interview w/ Ken Shamrock
Heavyweight champion Randy Couture isn’t the only UFC Hall of Famer who had a falling out with UFC president Dana White. Before the UFC legend abruptly resigned from the UFC earlier this month, Ken Shamrock had his own issues with UFC management. After working to become one of the biggest names in mixed martial arts – and becoming perhaps the first MMA superstar to get the sport international recognition – his relationship with the UFC soured to the point of being essentially nonexistent today...... Enjoy Richie!

IFL + Stats = FileStats
The IFL today announced that it has teamed up with STATS, a leading provider of sports stats and information, to create "FileStats". They claim it will be "the most comprehensive statistical program in the history of fight sports". Sounds like CompuBox for MMA. I'm sure those insane stat junkies are going to have a field day dissecting every little stat that will be recorded. I'd like to know if the judges will have this data, could make judging more fair or at least more interesting.

Dayton Daily News MMA: No Retirement for Rich Franklin
Soon after Rich Franklin suffered a second-round TKO loss to Anderson Silva on Saturday — his second such loss to Silva in the past year — word that Franklin was pondering a retirement began to spread. Those reports were apparently a little premature.

Strikeforce on Sunday released the names of the four athletes set to compete in its one night, four-man tournament – the first sanctioned mixed martial arts tournament in California – scheduled for Nov. 16 at the HP Pavilion in San Jose. Pretty cool that they were able to negotiate a way to do a tourney with the commission, my moneys on Prangley.

Ultimate Fighting Championship middleweight champion Anderson "The Spider" Silva disposed of Rich "Ace" Franklin on Saturday night at UFC 77 in Cincinnati to retain his title. He finished Franklin, winning the middleweight belt, in just under three minutes in October of last year. It took him twice as long this time, garnering a TKO victory at 1:07 of the second round. "I thought Rich fought much better than he did the first time,” Silva told MMAWeekly.com. “He defended the clinch in a much better fashion this time. Rich fought well. I was just fortunate enough to fight a little bit better than Rich."

Rich Franklin Possibly Retiring?
Mentioned in a report noting the various injuries Rich Franklin sustained during his UFC 77 fight with Anderson Silva is that the former UFC Middleweight Champion may be considering retirement. This wouldn't be good for UFC. Losing one hugely marketable star is bad enough, but losing 2 in just a couple weeks' time is even worse.

Monday Morning Reverie: ‘Spider' Venom
Rich Franklin must be wondering what in the world he has to do to beat the Brazilian bomber known as Anderson Silva. Franklin was knocked out Saturday a second time at the hands (and feet and knees and elbows) of "The Spider." The Cincinnati native was able to keep his opponent at bay early, but it seemed that the defending UFC middleweight champion had suddenly figured out the American.

Misaki signs with Strike Force
PRIDE's 2006 Welterweight Grand Prix champion, Kazuo Misaki has signed with the American-based Strikeforce organization. Surrounding his signing with the company was speculation that he may enter the upcoming four-man tournament, or face Cung Le, at the November 16 event in San Jose, California. Instead Misaki will not be fighting on the November 16 card, instead focusing on his teammate, Yuki Sasaki, in the tournament. Misaki is expected to debut with Strikeforce in early 2008. Misaki's last fight was a decision loss to Frank Trigg at PRIDE 33. Prior to the loss he defeated Denis Kang in the finals of PRIDE's 183-pound tournament. Misaki holds wins over PRIDE's 183-pound and 205-pound champion Dan Henderson, The Ultimate Fighter 3 finalist Ed Herman, UFC and PRIDE veteran Phil Baroni, and Jorge "Macaco" Patino.

Randy Couture’s manager responds to claims about Randy making millions
In a new report from Adam Swift at Sherdog, Randy Couture’s manager, Matt Walker, refutes claims from the Yahoo Sports report earlier in the week that Randy was making 3.25-3.75 million per fight: “When I first read the story on Yahoo! I actually laughed because they are so far from fact,” said Walker. “If he were getting $3.25-$3.75 million a fight then Randy’s compensation would not be an issue,” said the agent, who was lambasted by White as a Hollywood parasite after Couture announced his resignation on Oct. 11. “However, I can tell you those salary numbers for Randy are severely inflated and I would love to know where they got the information.”

Former Champ Sylvia Back in Title Picture
CINCINNATI – Tim Sylvia had six inches and nearly 40 pounds on Brandon Vera. It was clear to someone watching their first fight that Syliva needed to let his hands go in order to win. And, naturally, for much of the fight, Sylvia kept his hands idle. But when he did let them fly, he proved why he's such a difficult man to beat.
