Tyson Griffin vs Gleison Tibau @ UFC 81 confirmed
This fight was confirmed by representatives at Xtreme Couture. This seems like a step down for Tyson as his last bout with Tavares carried more weight in my eyes. I would like to see him fight KenFlo, but this should still be fun to watch.

UFC.com Confirms Brock Lesnar vs. Frank Mir For UFC 81
In a classic case of putting your money where your mouth is, new UFC signee Brock Lesnar ??" who has made no bones about wanting to fight the best the heavyweight division has to offer ??" will make his Octagon debut at UFC 81 on February 2nd against none other than former UFC Heavyweight Champion Frank Mir. The bout will be held at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada on the eve of Super Bowl XLII. “It’s an interesting matchup,” said UFC President Dana White. “Lesnar is a great wrestler, a good athlete, and this is definitely gonna be a big test for him. Frank Mir is a former world champion who is coming off a big win over Antoni Hardonk, and he’s looking to get his career back on track while Lesnar’s looking to walk into the UFC and prove what type of fighter he’s gonna be by trying to knock him off.”

BJ Penn: "If guys are cheating, maybe there should be two divisions."
Penn On Sean Sherk: I was told four different times that it was going to be on with Sherk, and it got pushed back every time. I'm just happy they set something else up. I was getting tired of waiting. If he did win the belt by cheating, that's ridiculous. But he's the one who has to live with it. Just like bodybuilding. If guys are cheating, maybe there should be two divisions. Penn went on to joke that his upcoming interim fight with Joe Stevenson is for the "natural" lightweight title.

Opinion: Dana White Spoke Too Soon
On October 31st, the mixed martial arts community awaited the verdict in Sean Sherk’s case involving his positive nandrolone test after his championship title fight with Hermes Franca. Instead of a resolution to the deadlocked title picture in the UFC’s lightweight division, the California State Athletic Commission managed to keep the top-tier of the division on hold for another 2 weeks. The commission did not receive an information packet that Sherk’s attorney had sent the week before. It caused the commission to push back the hearing in order to review the data that Sherk had submitted. With the fiasco that was the Phil Baroni case, the negligence of the staff at the CSAC to pass on information to commission members in the Sherk case, and the history of bad decisions that has plagued the CSAC is the past, it seems Dana White has had enough.

Steroids Found In Sherks Supplement
According to Sherdog.com, One of Sean Sherks Supplements manufactured by Xyience was found to contain amounts of 1-androstendione: Seven tests totaling $3,000 were conducted on supplements Sherk took before his bout against Hermes Franca. One such product was the Xyience-branded "Xyience Xtreme Joint Formula." Five capsules were analyzed according to a report supplied by Don H. Catlin, M.D., president and CEO of Anti-Doping Research, Inc. "No anabolic steroids were detected in four of the capsules," Catlin wrote. "In one capsule 1-androstendione was identified." As for the one capsule of "Xyience Xtreme Joint Formula" in which 1-androstendione was identified, the company said it has halted all shipments of the product until it can conduct independent testing by a certified lab. "While we are confident that Xyience products do not contain anabolic agents or any illegal substances," said Susan Wierzbicki, Director of Quality Assurance, Xyience, "we are taking this report very seriously."

Urban Legends
When Kevin "Kimbo Slice" Ferguson advances on Bo Cantrell Saturday night in EliteXC, it'll be his first authentic, sanctioned prizefight recorded in his 33 years -- the exhibition bout with Ray Mercer notwithstanding. Yet a substantial number of people in the arena and at home will be familiar with Slice, both with his menacing, bearded mug and his 235-pound frame capable of rendering those in close proximity concussed and ego-bruised.
