Cris Cyborg vs. Amanda Nunes set for UFC 232
UFC champions Cris Cyborg and Amanda Nunes will meet in the Octagon on Dec. 29, multiple sources confirmed to MMA Fighting following a report by ESPN. Cyborg’s featherweight title will be on the line when they meet in a 145-pound fight at Las Vegas’ UFC 232. Cyborg (20-1, 1 no-contest) attempted to convince the UFC and Nunes to move the fight to September, complaining about the long layoff after a March title defense with Yana Kunitskaya, but the promotion ultimately booked it for the final card of the year. The featherweight champion is 5-0 inside the Octagon with wins over Leslie Smith, Lina Lansberg, Tonya Evinger, Holly Holm and Kunitskaya.

Yoel Romero says he’s not fighting at UFC 230: ‘I need 4-5 months to heal’
Despite an already-announced fight, Yoel Romero won’t be taking on Paulo Costa any time soon. A few weeks ago, the UFC curiously announced a middleweight bout between Paulo Costa and Yoel Romero for UFC 230 in November. The bout didn’t make sense on multiple levels - the top two being that Romero had already announced a move to 205 pounds, and that he was injured.

Luis Pena to fight TUF winner Mike Trizano at UFC Denver
Luis Pena’s stint in The Ultimate Fighter house was cut short. Now he’s getting the chance to make up for lost time. Nicknamed “Violent Bob Ross,” Pena (4-0) will fight TUF 27 lightweight champion Mike Trizano (6-0) at UFC Denver at the Pepsi Center on Nov. 10, according to a report from The Denver Post. Though Pena gained plenty of notoriety on TUF 27 show for his fighting ability and resemblance to famous painter and television personality Bob Ross, it was Trizano who would go on to defeat Joe Giannetti at the Ultimate Fighter 27 Finale in July to win the season. Pena picked up a unanimous decision nod over Jose Martinez Jr. in the quarter-finals, but a foot injury forced him to withdraw from the competition.

Raquel Pennington-Germaine de Randamie Tilt Revealed for UFC Fight Night 139 in Denver
The Ultimate Fighting Championship’s 25th Anniversary card in Denver just landed another Colorado native, as Colorado Springs’ Raquel Pennington vs. Germaine de Randamie has been officially announced for the Nov. 10 event. Beyond a mere nod to the locale, the fight is a matchup of Top-10 women with something to prove. “Rocky” will look to regain momentum and show she is none the worse for wear after a brutal fifth-round TKO loss to bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes in May, which snapped a four-fight winning streak. While Pennington was roundly lauded for her heart and grit, the punishment she took was severe enough that her corner as well as referee Marc Goddard received some criticism for not stopping the fight sooner.

Misha Cirkunov vs. Patrick Cummins, four other bouts added to UFC Moncton
Misha Cirkunov is getting his chance to bounce back in his home country. Coming off consecutive losses for the first time in his career, Cirkunov will look to return to the winner’s circle when he fights Patrick Cummins in a light heavyweight bout at UFC Moncton on Oct. 27, per TSN. A native of Latvia with roots in Toronto, Cirkunov (13-4) had emerged as a contender at 205 pounds with a string of finishes in his first four UFC fights. However, he’s now failed to make it out of the first round in back-to-back contests against Glover Teixeira and Volkan Oezdemir. Cummins (10-5) is also coming off of a loss, having been outpointed by Corey Anderson in April. He is 3-3 in his last six fights, with wins over Gian Villante, Jan Blachowicz, and Rafael “Feijao” Cavalcante. Also added to the show is a light heavyweight bout between Villante (16-10) and Ed Herman (23-13, 1 NC), a lightweight bout between Thibault Gouti (12-4) and Nasrat Haqparast (9-2), a bantamweight bout between Gavin Tucker (10-1) and Andre Soukhamthath (12-6), and a women’s bantamweight bout between Sarah Moras (5-3) and Talita Bernardo (5-3).

UFC 227 post-event facts: Does T.J. Dillashaw's resume prove he's greatest bantamweight?
The UFC’s sixth stop in Los Angeles occurred on Saturday when UFC 227 went down at Staples Center. The card aired on pay-per-view following prelims on FX and UFC Fight Pass. A rivalry was settled in the main event when T.J. Dillashaw (16-3 MMA, 12-3 UFC) once again proved his superiority to Cody Garbrandt (11-2 MMA, 6-2 UFC) with a first-round TKO. It was a monumental achievement for the UFC bantamweight champion, who has now defended his belt during two separate title reigns. History also happened in the co-headliner. Henry Cejudo (13-2 MMA, 6-2 UFC) brought an end to Demetrious Johnson’s (27-3-1 MMA, 15-2-1 UFC) historic title run when he came out on the winning end of a split decision to claim the UFC flyweight title. for more on the numbers from UFC 227, check below for 45 post-event facts from the card...
