The UFC is close to finalizing a featherweight title fight between Max Holloway and Frankie Edgar for UFC 240 on July 27 in Edmonton, Canada, according to multiple sources.
The promotion has tried to book this matchup twice in the past, although both attempts fell through due to injury. Once official, the 145-pound championship will take place on the pay-per-view portion of UFC 240, which will take in Edmonton's Rogers Place.

I am actually very ok with this slight at Volkanovski. No ones going to say Alex isn’t the more deserving fighter, however the ufc is giving Edgar the nod based on his career work in the octagon and constantly being a company man.
Edgar’s been in Alex’s spot being skipped over (Conor’s rise to the top at 145) and he’s always taken late notice opponents for the company as well. Holloway and Edgar have had 2 previous fight commitments fall through so its only fair to give each man the fight they want.
Alex is tough and will no doubt be there for years to com so why not let the old man Edgar get his final shot at a belt? I’ve seen much worse crimes by the ufc then giving Edgar this blessing.
