How stoked were you for the Nate Diaz vs. Dustin Poirier fight? Now prepare to be completely bummed.
Poirier (24-5 MMA, 16-4 UFC) has suffered an injury and is out of his UFC 230 lightweight fight against Diaz (19-11 MMA, 14-9 UFC). Poirier’s manager confirmed the news to MMAjunkie on Tuesday night following an initial report from ESPN.com.
As a results, Diaz “also will not fight on the card,” UFC President Dana White told the Los Angeles Times. When asked by ESPN.com’s Ariel Helwani what would happen in the wake of Poirier’s withdrawal, Diaz responded: “I’ll just fight Khabib (Nurmagomedov) when he’s ready.”
