Stipe Miocic will have to wait.

Just hours after Jones teased a potential fight against the former UFC heavyweight champion, his real marching orders were unveiled: Jones is being targeted to defend his UFC light heavyweight title against Thiago Santos on July 6 at UFC 239. MMA Fighting confirmed the news Wednesday following an initial report by ESPN. Once finalized, Jones vs. Santos is expected to headline the UFC’s annual International Fight Week.

This is like a much more dangerous version of Smith. Jones should use those down kicks and eye polks to keep the distance and win a UD. All the while tasting positive for steroids. Should be ho-hum Jones.

He has cleaned out the LHW division. There's no need to keep proving yourself there unless he wants to set an insane amount of records that will most likely never be touched again assuming the sport keeps evolving the way it already is. The best move for his career is to go up to HW.
