The UFC is heading back to Calgary with a major featherweight clash in tow.

Former UFC champion Jose Aldo will fight Jeremy Stephens in the co-main event of a UFC on FOX show scheduled for the Scotia Saddledome in Calgary, Alberta, on July 28, per a report from the Calgary Sun. That report was later shared by the official UFC Canada Twitter account.

Sources told MMA Fighting’s Ariel Helwani that the hope is to schedule UFC women’s flyweight champion Nicco Montano’s first title defense vs. Valentina Shevchenko for the main event but that has not been finalized yet.

Per the Calgary Sun, several other bouts have been confirmed by the UFC. See the updated card below (bout order to be determined):

I hope Nicco Montano vs. Valentina Shevchenko headlines this card. It's 1 of 2 titles I've yet to see live, and I'm likely going to this event.

If Aldo gets finished again I wouldn't be surprised if he called it a career.

This is the fight I was calling for after UFC on Fox Orlando when Stephens finished Emmett. Makes perfect sense to me.

If stephens wins you gotta give him a title shot.

I agree. I'd also think Stephens should be the favorite coming into this.

I don't think so. Based upon the rankings (which are B.S. in my opinion) why would the betting line follow that? I think Aldo's career will great influence the line off the bat. As we get closer to the fight I would imagine the odds are almost a wash.

Yeah, I think Aldo will be the slight betting favourite (at least in real life odds), but I think it will be close to a pick ems.

I booked my flights yesterday, I'll be at this event (fingers crossed Montano/Shevchenko headlines). Then I'm heading to LA the week after for UFC 227. That'll be my UFC splurge for the year.

Now the rumor is Alvarez/Poirier is targeted as the main event of this card.

Brett Okamoto - @bokamotoESPN

Not official, but I'm hearing UFC is interested in doing the Alvarez/Poirier rematch in Calgary on July 28. That's a heck of a main event if it comes together.

Montano/Shevchenko and Alvarez/Poirier? Or Alvarez/Poirier and Aldo/Stephens?

I just want to see that damn women's flyweight title, preferably with Shevchenko fighting for it. The only titles I've never seen live is this one and the HW title. All the others, I've seen.... So Nicco better sign her damn contract for Calgary, Shevchenko said yesterday that she already signed it, she's just waiting on Nicco to sign it, who's taking her sweet ass time.... too busy ripping Ariel.

@Braden

Nicco will not be Champ very long at all.

She lost last year to Invicta's Raging Panda Julia Avila. Avila will be in the UFC soon. With wins over Nicco and Marion Reneau it's just a matter of time.
