The downtrodden UFC featherweight division will get a major jolt later this spring.

Former bantamweight champion Holly Holm will take on Megan Anderson at UFC 225 on June 9 in Chicago, MMA Fighting confirmed Wednesday after the news was first reported by the Chicago Tribune. The bout will be contested at 145 pounds and very well could be a title eliminator with the winner facing champion Cris Cyborg.

This one's kind of a head scratcher for me.... I thought they would have just Matched Megan against Cyborg. If she goes and loses to Holm, what are they going to do Cyborg vs. Holm 2? Idk... I guess they're taking a gamble that Megan can beat Holm and the fight against Cyborg would then become bigger and even more intriguing? That's the only reason I can think of as to why they'd make this fight, instead of just going with Cyborg vs. Megan.

That our maybe set up a superfight with Cyborg vs Nunes after Miocic vs DC is complete. Only 1 Superfight at a time please. But i could see that being their thoughts. Or like youb said Braden if Anderson wins it will have a decent build up for a Cyborg bout.

What the hell?

A 145 lb women's fight that's NOT for the title?

Right! And stick to 1 Superfight booked at a time.

Still surprised everyone thinks TJ deserves Mighty Mouse. TJ has his hands full at BW. Garbrandt 2 @227 and winner of Moraes/Rivera should be next. And Dom and Assuncao are in that mix.

Mighty Mouse needs some tough opponents but BW there are more contenders than any other division currently imo.
