Former Strikeforce champion Nate Marquardt is done with professional fighting.

The 56-fight veteran announced on his website Thursday that he is hanging up the gloves after 18 years of MMA competition. Marquardt, 38, made a name for himself as a top-ranked fighter during his time with the UFC, Strikeforce, and Japan’s Pancrase promotion.

Good for Nate. He has had a pretty great career other than his last several fights. I really don't care to see him knocked out anymore. He'd be a good analyst. Will never forget those finishes of Maia and Palhares.

Nothing against Woodley, but my favorite win of Nate's career is when he ko'd Woodley to win the Strikeforce belt.

That was a nice KO and only a few years back too.....Nate had a great career, would've liked to see him take one more retirement fight and then ride off into the sunset, but it is what it is. War Marquardt!!

Hope he's happy in retirement
I can't believe he stuck around for as long as he did. There was so many times at the end of his career I thought, "He done for sure", and then he always got a win and continue on.
His wins over CB Dollaway and Tamdon McCrory always stick out in my head just because both times I thought Nate was completely done and yet he came through and knocked those guys the fuck out.

If you take his Pancrase run along with his Strikeforce run, dude really did have a HOF career. He may have never won a UFC title but he had some huge wins in the UFC.
