On July 13, 2013 in just her third fight, Rose Namajunas lost to Tecia Torres via Unanimous Decision at Invicta FC 6: Coenen vs. Cyborg. Namajunas won the rematch, again via Unanimous Decision, in the co-main event of UFC on Fox 19 on April 16, 2016.

I realize it was a clean KO but I'm still surprised Joanna is not getting an immediate rematch. Being as dominant as she was, I feel bad for whoever her next opponent is. Oh and I thought Torres won the first fight, her style is a bit sparring like, if she can up the intensity I think she has a good chance of winning considering how close the first fight was and her cardio is good.

good scrap

She has stated recently, publicly that she isn’t keen on the cut to 115 and is seriously considering jumping up in weight. She has stated the same thing in the past but there was no division at the time and we/she know(s) that 135 is too big for her. Far too big. She would be the champ at 125.

not if Valentina decided to make a play at 125, i think she is a better striker than Joanna and hits a hell of a lot harder too. I'd imagine Joanna would want revenge on Rose before making any switch in weight classes.

If I'm not mistaken, didn't Valentina beat Joanna a couple times in kickboxing? If they fought in mma, I'd pick Valentina for sure and Valentina's already scheduled to fight at 125 next.

Anyways, I like this title fight. I thought Joanna would get an immediate shot, and deservedly so, but I was kind of hoping it would be Tecia. Who knows, maybe Joanna wanted to take a bit of time off, then she'll come back and fight the winner of Rose/Tecia. That's what I'm guessing happens.

I believe Valentina beat Joanna and a couple muay-thi fights so she would probably be the favorite against Joanna.
Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if Joanna just jumps up to 125 and leaves SW behind for good. She is absolutely huge for the division ( the only fighters I think that are bigger than her are Valerie Letourneau, who had to jump up to 125, and Tatiana Suarez, who I can't believe even makes 115 ) so I imagine the weight cut is just too much for her now.

If she does stay at SW she probably won't won't immediately jump back into the title title picture. She will probably take on like a Felice Herrig or or a Michelle Waterson for a confidence boost and then will probably challenge for the belt after Torres and the winner of Andrade/Kowalkiewicz.

Joanna needs a lesser opponent for a confidence boost?!

If she wants a title shot at 115, she'll get one. Once she's ready, I believe that's what she'll do.... "a confidence boost".

Well, I mean, it's not uncommon for a champion to lose thier belts and then come back against a lower ranked opponent like when Cruz fought Mizugaki or when Esparza fought Lima. That's all I meant.
It's not a terrible idea to take on someone a bit easier after getting ko'd like Joanna did so I'm not saying anything bad about it if that's what she does.
