Just like that, Jose Aldo will get another crack at the UFC featherweight title sooner than expected.

Max Holloway vs. Jose Aldo 2 is the new UFC 218 main event, MMA Fighting has learned. Aldo replaces Frankie Edgar, who was forced to withdraw from the fight earlier this week due to injury.

I don't mind seeing this again at all. Aldo had Holloway hurt last time he could do it again.

This is just a bit harder fight for Holloway than if he was to fight Edgar. Still think Holloway can get a late tko finish again.

Man, no disrespect to Aldo, but we just saw this fight. I would have preferred the Swanson rematch before Aldo, just because that fight happened about 2 years ago. :-/

And who wants to bet that Aldo pulls out last minute? Aldo doesn't exactly have the best track record of making it to fights.

I figured this was the route they were going. Imo, best option at 145.

I agree. Not the best track record. Let’s hope a short training camp doesn’t push him too hard too fast and cause injury. Also, Aldo has real trouble making weight as his career has progressed. Think he can mentally be prepped for this? I sure hope he shows up fight night.

Best option, ok, if Aldo losses Again to Max, the guy he just lost to, that will be 3 out of 4. Do or Die Scarface.
