UFC 214 on July 29 in Anaheim, California is shaping up to be an extraordinary card, with three title fights. Light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier will defend his title against Jon Jones. Cristiane Justino and Tonya Evinger will fight for the vacant women’s featherweight belt. And during an appearance on UFC Tonight on FS1 UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley announced he would fight Demian Maia.

Starting to think this is insurance in case cyborg finds another opponent mysteriously pull out lol or if Cormier struggles with another weight cut in California (who have the most involved commission in the world lol) and the fight becomes a non title bout. Or heck maybe it's insurance for in case cyborg or Jones pop for something again for USADA.

Either way amped for this fight card since anyone of the 3 title bouts can be pulled and the card is still STACKED esspecially if Cerrone Lawler does end on this card. If the card does stay intact then we have the first UFC show that SHOULD hit 1.5 million without Conor or Rousey which hasn't happened in a long time. Glad to see the UFC trying to give back after a rough start to the year.

As far as the fight goes Maia vs a deserving contender and I am a fan of the way he earned it,the old fashioned way of taking out every other contender they give you until you can't fight anyone but the Champ. I think Woodly takes it but I am rooting for Maia. He is my favorite Brazilian fighter ever along with Shogun. Both guys just stay out of trouble and let their resumes speak for themselves.

It would be much more satisfying seeing GSP getting out grappled by Maia rather than KO'd by Woodley

I would be happy seeing either tbh
Also find it funny how they say winner gets GSP. What happened to Bisping? Bisping had a reality check and realized he would get wrestlefucked?

Sadly I don't think this will do much more than 900,000 buys, even if everything comes together.

Great card though.

I think Maia could pull off the upset.

You might be right but I think if JJ and DC can make it to the fight I think their rivalry could push it over that mark.

This makes more sense to me, however I think the title should be reversed. GSP gets WW title shot after Maia.

IDC, as long as we don't see a rerun of UFC 209!!! My god, I get that both guys were being cautious but holy shit I'd like to see Woodley be more aggressive like he was in the Robbie fight! That dude has the potential to rule the 170lb division for a long time now that Rory isn't there breathing down his neck.

I heard somewhere recently that in the history of ppv for boxing and MMA there have only been 25 or so PPV that have garnered more than 1 million ppv buys. I think any card without Mcgregor that does over 900,000 buys would be a massive success. Even over 750,000 is huge
