Phil Davis will be making his first Bellator light heavyweight title defense later this summer, and now he has a new opponent.

The champion will now face Ryan Bader at Bellator 180 on June 24 at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The news was first announced by Davis on Monday’s edition of The MMA Hour. Bader was originally scheduled to headline the Spike TV event against Muhammed Lawal, but “King Mo” was forced to withdraw from the card after sustaining an undisclosed injury.

I could definitely see it bro

Close match up both have improved since last time around but I am still leaning towards Bader being able to avoid the wrestling of Davis and out striking him by a narrow margain to win a decision.

5 rounds does make it a little more interesting in my eyes though

Bellator really going out of there way to stack this event hopefully all the fights take place and none get cancelled

Baders growth as a striker will make this more interesting then the first go round....,,im not sure who to go for.

Would have liked if they could have gotten McGeary here instead and kept Bader on the 184 card against someone else on the roster, but oh well.

Yeah, I saw Bader vs King Mo in NY @ MSG and thought it was for 184 but I was wrong, it was for 180....didn't know that event was taking place in NY also.
