On the heels of 2016’s year-end show, World Series of Fighting is returning to New York with another championship triple-header at WSOF 35 in Verona, NY. And one of the titles up for grabs on March 18 will be the bantamweight belt long held by 135-pound stud Marlon Moraes, which has since been vacated, according to the promotion.

Using that UFC buy-out money to attempt to stay afloat a little bit longer and avoid a bankruptcy scenario??

UFC should definitely NOT buy out WSOF...shit the organization has less than 10 fighters they want and one of the biggest ones is Marlon.

UFC has to buy them

They only started WSOF to keep Bellator from getting all the good free agents (as they shifted to Spike TV)

Don't forget WSOF was started by one of the Fertita's best friends, Sig Rogich.

Now that Bellator is no longer a threat UFC buy it and the guy who started it (Sig Rogich) makes all the money back that he lost, and then some for his troubles.

It was all part of that backroom deal they made with Harry Reid and Sig Rogich, to get Fertita Interactive a head start in the world of online gaming. This is how they (unofficially) pay Rogich for his work supporting Reid.

There is no reason for the UFC to buy WSOF, as everyone knows. If they do I think it will vindicate Zach Arnold's theory, and prove that WSOF was just a "stalking horse" promotion

They'd have to buyout wsof to keep free agents from bellator again lol.

But if anything Bellator is stronger then ever.....meanwhile ufc is letting exciting ranked fighters go like bader, larkin, and cirkunov so i doubt they would spend money to buy the wsof when they are letting their own roster get poached.

Not to mention this isnt scorched earth policy ZUFFA era Ufc.......these owners aren't trying to destroy the competition they are just utilizing whats been built abd are turning a profit.

Also the ongoing lawsuit would make swallwing the competition a no-go at the moment.

I could see that being a reasonable course of events if Zuffa still owned the company, but what reason would WME have to honor any backroom deal they weren't a part of?

I don't think the UFC is too worried about Bellator poaching the guys they want from WSOF. I don't get the impression that WME is really trying to expand the roster. If anything they are slimming it down.

I think the UFC grabs Moraes and makes some lowball offers to a few others hoping to get them on the cheap.

Guys that they already cut like Okami, Fitch and Shields are probably the guys they'll just let go to Bellator.

Only moraes and branch are gone..

Wsof just got 60% of the company bought by investors in the tune of 25 million.

I still think they are on the death bed but no one pulled the plug just yet.

Awesome assessment. I totally agree with you. Online gaming is such an easy way to work back alley deals with minimally traced payoffs and kickbacks. It is like the early days in the Casino industry.
