Tragic news surfaced Friday afternoon that UFC middleweight Josh Samman had been found unresponsive in a South Floridan apartment along with another man, who was pronounced dead.
I know BJpenn.com isn't always the most reliable source, but there are tweeted confirmations....story still unfolding. Crazy.

Evidently, the guy that was found dead with him is Troy Kirkingburg....the announcer for Combat Night.

Here's a tweet from The MMA Kings:

Wow.

Reddit seems to be popping off about this...as it seems to be the initial source...and is currently being updated:

I'm betting drug overdose based off another guy being dead in the room. Only other thing I can think of would be joint suicide given that his girlfriend died in a car crash a few years back texting back and forth with him while she was driving. I recall him saying he felt responsible, but I'm guessing drugs are the most likely culprit. I never understood athletes using hard drugs, why work so hard on your body just to put poison in it?

The article says the man who was pronounced dead was Mike Towell and now it's been updated that he didn't die? http://www.bjpenn.com/mma-news/josh-samman/report-josh-samman-found-unresponsive-critical-condition/

Near07: I don't see that in the article.

I think I'm gonna chill with this story for a while....then revisit the facts when the smoke clears.

If true. Very sad. My condolences and hope to one day find out what it was, with all due respect.

Two people found unresponsive, one dead. Sounds like a heroin overdose.

Hope he makes it out alright.

Demons in the closet. Some people turn to drugs to cope with different traumatic experiences. From what I read, he struggled with drugs in the past. Recently losing his girlfriend and a couple of fights, on top of whatever else has went on in his life could very well drove him back to using. If in fact, this is the reason he was found unresponsive.

Samman seemed like such a well adjusted dude on TUF & in the cage. One of the last fighters I thought would be banging hard drugs.

I was addicted to Heroin for a year in my early 20's, it's something I occasionally go back to but only smoke and never inject again. I have not done so for a few years though and hope to never touch it again.

These athletes and fighters put there bodies on the line and get banged up and are sore and in a moderate amount of pain probably most of the time. Heroin gets rid of ALL pain both physically and mentally...it's the ultimate Eraser of all shitness in life at an instant..and unbelievably addictive if you enjoy the high...hope Samman fights through it

That's usually a sign of WD...whether it's Heroin or pills....he was prob hooked on painkillers, is my guess. Hope he learns his lesson.
