Ben Saunders wanted to clear up a few things, so he took to the UG forum Monday evening.

After news surfaced that he was no longer with the UFC, the popular welterweight fighter explained his version of what went on over the last few months. Saunders said he was not cut by the UFC. Instead, he said he fought out his contract and, due to multiple personal reasons, was not quick to re-sign.

Once Saunders did feel ready to put pen on paper, he said, it was too late. The UFC had already moved on without him.

Wow. Sounds to me like Killa B wanted to shop around a little.. Didn't find any better offers & by the time he called the UFC back they were already over him.. That blows! Saunders was always fun to watch

I agree. I enjoy watching any fighter of that size with the ability to use that Bravo guard. I'm surprised more fighters don't use it. Lots of fighters could have saved themselves a beating by using mission control.

"limited roster" my ass, I think Ben is just playing nice with that statement. With all the scrubs the UFC has been bringing in lately, I find it hard to believe they didn't have room for an exciting fighter like Ben on the roster. I mean he doesn't have the resume of a guy like CM Punk but still, he's pretty good.

Damn. So many great match ups for him in the UFC too. Add this to my growing list of disappointments with them. He's fighting Jacob Volkmann next apparently. Hopefully his crazy guard plays a factor in that fight.
