With the Monday announcement that a Michael Chiesa injury would scrap the planned main event for UFC Fight Night 91 next month, the UFC acted quickly to right the ship.

Tony Ferguson (20-3 MMA, 10-1 UFC), who was set to meet Chiesa (14-2 MMA, 7-2 UFC) in the lightweight main event, will stay on the card against UFC newcomer Landon Vannata (8-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC). But Ferguson now will slide down to the co-main event.

With the change to the card, UFC Fight Night 91 now includes:

John Lineker vs. Michael McDonald
Tony Ferguson vs. opponent TBA
Tim Boetsch vs. Josh Samman
Alexey Oleinik vs. Daniel Omielanczuk
Keita Nakamura vs. Kyle Noke
Ben Nguyen vs. Louis Smolka
Ryan Hall vs. Alex White
Cortney Casey vs. Cristina Stanciu
Sam Alvey vs. Eric Spicely
Matthew Lopez vs. Rani Yahya
Devin Clark vs. Alex Nicholson
Scott Holtzman vs. Cody Pfister

This has to be the weakest card on paper in UFC history.

It's definitely competing for that spot. Off the top of my head I can't think of a weaker card. For the fans attending, I at least hope these fight deliver.

I thought I was alone on this one, glad somebody agrees.

Vannata is actually a good prospect but this is an odd matchup. You gotta hot prospect vs a guy rear the very Top of his Division that is riding a 7 fight win streak.

Setup alert/conspiracy theory/fight politics:
This is a damn near mirror of what happened with Khabib Nurmagomedov...hopefully they get Chiesa someone else so that Khabib and Tony can settle the score!

Oh and for having a weak card, remember...it's South Dakota...just saying.

I'm still gonna watch but I think that card with Saffuedine vs Lim may be the only other one.

You're not alone on this one. I'm sure we all would have prefered a better replacement, like Poirier or Dariush, but I don't think it's so much the best they could, I think it's all they could do. Tony's a beast and I doubt there's many guys that would want to step in on such short notice to face him, so the UFC had to throw in someone who was willing to take the opportunity of just fighting in the UFC.

Like jae brought up, this reminds me of what happened in Khabib's recent fight where Tony had to pull out and Khabib fought Horcher instead It's kind of funny how Tony said Khabib should have pulled out and waited for him, but he's not doing that for Chiesa.... this card really would have been super weak had he done that, though.

Oh yeah, that one was pretty weak as well. Definitely close, I'm not sure who I'd give the edge to..
