UFC fighter Valentina Shevchenko's trainer, Pavel Fedotov, was shot and taken to the emergency room after a shootout at a chicken restaurant in the Chorrilos district of Lima, Peru. Shevchenko was also present at the establishment during the chaos. The news was reported on Monday by Peruvian news outlet El Comercio.

Three armed robbers allegedly entered the establishment Sunday night, taking 5,000 soles – about 1,486 U.S. dollars – from the cash register as well as cellphones, wallets and other belongings from the customers. The robbers also assaulted anyone who resisted the robbery, splitting open the heads of three customers, according to the report.

The robbery and the shootout were captured by security cameras. Shevchenko can be seen in the video rushing to her coach's aid after the shooting ceased.

If this isn't a sign to move to the U.S. and join up with a top fight camp, I don't know what is.

I must have watched the video almost 30 times on repeat, just trying to take in everything. It looks to me that the whole situation could have been avoided if he kept his head down and gave up his wallet (assuming the robbers made it all the way back to the rear of the restaurant where you can see the coach come out and start shooting from close range). You could argue because of his actions two innocent bystanders were shot. You could also argue he saved some people. All I know is, it doesn't always pay to try and be the hero.

I agree, Tildengolfer. Guns, in a situation like that have the tendency to make the situation worse...and more dangerous to the rest of the victims. He got two others shot because of his decision to fire his weapon. Chances are the thieves would have been out of there without shooting anybody. I don't think the NRA will be using this one for their cause(and yes, I understand the NRA is an American Association, but they've been known to exploit events in other countries for their own causes.)
There's so many idiots with guns who make bad decisions...such is the case here.
I wonder if they'll update the article when they find out who's bullets hit the other two victims. I wouldn't be shocked to discover they came from the "hero's" gun.
...and btw...I'm a gun owner, but I don't carry one around.

...and on another note, it was somewhat good to know that one of the bad guys got put down and expired. F'n can't stand criminals...especially violent ones.

I've always had mixed feelings about guns...so I don't take a hard stance in either direction...although it does make sense that the more guns there are in a region, the more gun violence/tragedies there are. Ignoring that is pretty ridiculous...as the hardcore gun advocates often do. 'Muricuuuuuuuuuuuuuuh!!!!!
