It didn't take long for Matt Brown to find his next fight. Just under two weeks after losing a lopsided bout vs. Demian Maia, "The Immortal" welterweight veteran has agreed to make his return against Jake Ellenberger at UFC 201. ESPN's Brett Okamoto reported the new fight booking.

Brown (20-14) lost by 3rd round submission to Maia at UFC 198, marking his first stoppage loss since Seth Baczynski choked him out way back in 2011. It was after the Baczynski defeat that Brown would then memorably win his next 7 fights, setting himself up for a top contender bout vs. Robbie Lawler, which he would go on to lose by unanimous decision. After suffering a decision defeat to Johny Hendricks, Brown picked up a guillotine choke win over Tim Means at UFC 189.

Brown may be spending more time on his back during this one.

Another fight for Brown where he proves he's been an overachiever most of his career. Ellenberger is a shell of his former self at this point but he'll be able to beat Brown.

I don't know. Ellenberger is basically the shell of the shell of his former self at this point. I also don't think I'd characterize brown as an overachiever. He won 7 in a row against some good fighters and top prospects at the time. He brings it and he's fun to watch. I actually like Brown over Ellenberger here.

At this point I think Brown is more likely to ko Jake than vice versa...now maybe Jake can out wrestle him to a decision but I think it would be highly contested if that was the strategy.

Even though both guys are in a little slump, I think this will land on the Main Card and I got Brown all day in this one. Maia was a bad matchup for Brown and I don't think Ellenberger will have any where near the same success Maia did.

I disagree about ellenberger, he looked like he had no confidence for a while there but it's more the level of competition that he has faced in my opinion

Interesting match up, Brown has heavy hands, has heart and (IMO) poor wrestling defense. Ellenberger is a helluva grappler but that chin and his heart...somewhat suspect these days. I think Brown takes this one via TKO.

This. I think he's received a couple of KO's and his chin is not what it used to be. You can see him as tentative as ever and hesitant to strike in anticipation of the counter and lackadaisical shots because of thought of the knees.

Or maybe Robbie Lawler broke a dude...

I personally would like to see Jake hang 'em up. He doesn't need to prove anything else. He has given us wars and great entertainment. He's been in the UFC since 2009.With wins over guys like Marquardt, Shields, Howard, Sanchez, Pyle, Koscheck. He has nothing more left to show us. He doesn't need to. Don't go out on your shield. Don't be a Matt Hamill, Sokodjou, Sapp, Fedor, etc.
