I haven't seen them put up significant strikes up once in this fight.

It's kinda close but I got it Dc 49-47. For Gus supposedly having a stand-up advantage, he got battered almost the entire time he was facing dc and a lot of the time his back was turned.

The only sure rounds in my book are the 1st and 5th for cormier and 2nd for Gus. The 3rd and 4th were close with Gus possibly stealing the 3rd with the knee and I gave him the edge for being more effective in the first half of the 4th than DC with the last half. I have it for Gus but it can go either way in my eyes.

That is definitely FOTN! Great fight...not the best IQ from DC, but it worked.

BARELY!

Great fight. Am I the only one who thinks that after 2 great title fights delivered in fights with Jones and DC, Gus should be a mandatory part of all LHW title fights now? His presence seems to make for guaranteed fights of the night with title fights.

Cormier won because Gus let him off the hook. The end of the end of the third and beginning of the fourth he could have finished if he'd only pressed the action. Must have been gassed but that's the time to dig deep.

You could just as easily say Gus lost because Cormier wouldn't let him off the hook, every time he ran he was right there on him. DC didn't allow Gus to do what he wanted or be comfortable all night. What Gus wasn't doing had a lot to with what Daniel was doing.

I'm talking about a specific moment of the fight. After that knee Cormier wasn't doing anything but wobbling around. Gus showed poor fight IQ by not pressing and then shooting a takedown.

I really think he could have finished, if his corner was doing anything but screaming at him to go forward then they are to blame.
