I really think Aldo is going to pull out. I mean from a financial aspect it would be huge for the UFC. The unification bout if McGregor wins would be huge. I think McGregor can beat Mendes

I think Aldo should pull out. If McGregor is to beat Aldo, which I doubt he would, but I'm a big Aldo fan so take that with a grain of salt, I'd rather he beat the best possible Aldo. If he fights injured and loses to McGregor, there will always be those people who would be like "we'll it would've been different if Aldo hadn't fought injured". Plus I like McGregor vs Mendes more primarily because if McGregor wins, which I'd have Mendes picked over him, then nobody can say he was protected or he didn't earn his title shot. A win over Mendes is legit. The only person who has had any answer for Mendes at all has been Aldo, so a win over him is huge for McGregor.

*puts on tinfoil hat*

I think that everyone in the UFC has known since the first injury reports came out that the fight would be canceled. They're keeping this secret because the big draw is Aldo vs. McGregor.

All the while Chad Mendes is in training as we speak and ready to step in.

But this way there are no changed posters, no need to take down the commercials, and PPV buys and ticket sales will still be as high as possible.

Yeah this sucks. If this is the case it's definitely off. The event would never be canceled anyway with Rory vs Lawler 2 still on the card but it sucks that fight is being extremely overlooked because of McGregor.

I hope Mendes smashes McGregor and Lawler smashed Rory so Lawler can finally get the respect and hype he deserves.

They shouldn't wait so long to make the decision.
They should make it in a few days.

Then they'd have to change their ads to avoid false advertising charges.

Would hurt the UFC's bottom line.

Theyll just wait till prefight medicals and say aldo wasnt cleared. Mendes steps in....ufc doesnt lose as many millions as they would if they replaced aldo right now.
.i was really looking forward to this fight.

It's just like the A and B sample thing with Anderson. They create two sides to cause confusion and then they can buy some time and play it how they want. I have no doubt that Aldo is injured and the fact of wether it is broken or bruised is irrelevant because in most circumstances they can hurt and heal equally.

The fact that they have publicly announced that mendes is cutting weight/training and is on stand by is a big deal. I don't remember the ufc ever doing that before by announcing it.

Probably a ploy to cancel the fight as late as possible for some financial gain.

If Mwndes beats McGregor, here's hoping how this all plays out:

Aldo and McGregor still want to fight each other and they do a big fight in Ireland or Brazil.

Mendes fights Frankie. The winner faces the winner of Aldo/McGregor at UFC 200.
