One of the most heavily anticipated matchups in the UFC’s lightweight division has been scrapped, as Khabib Nurmagomedov (22-0 MMA, 6-0 UFC) will not be competing at UFC 187.

Fuck that sucks.

At this point I would say
Beneil dariush would be good.

Either that or take Tony Ferguson
Bobby green. Or ianquinta off san diego card
Insert them vs cerrone

Maybe Masdival would be down.

Only a matter of time before this card would start taking hits.

Not sure if this is good or bad news for Donald. Sure the instant title shot with a win is gone but he is deff getting an easier fight now since basically everyone is a stepdown from Khabib. Maybe an eighth straight win is enough for a title shot even without beating Nurmy since not a single person would have a stronger claim than Donald with another win. Only other person in contention is MJ with a win over Bendo.

Only three options I see stepping up is Tony Ferguson, Bobby Green or Masvidal. Most likely Masvidal though.

Pretty sure Masvidal safely fought his way to losing a decision against Al Iaquinta. The other 2 are good options though, but I think Cerrone would murder Iaquinta. I like Bobby Green as an option, that guy is well rounded in strengths and skills and always puts on an exciting fight.

Just pull Gilbert Burns from the Fight Night card the following week and find Norman Parke a new opponent.

Hey, maybe this'll give Khabib more time to run his mouth on Twitter.

I realize this may sound a little harsh right now, but I'm tired of this guy talking. He needs to shut up and fight. Injuries happen, sure, and I'm cool with a brawler who can bring it on the mic, too. Like Chael. But I don't think Khabib's funny or interesting, just annoying. Especially in light of his inactivity.

It's like the kid in grade school who says he could get all As but doesn't, simply because it's not important to him. No one liked that guy.

Burns is out of the fight with Parke. Green doesn't deserve a fight with Cowboy. I would say either Dariush or Ferguson.

I think Iaquinta would almost definitely take this fight. Weidman is already on the card, and it's not a 5 rounder so I think he would be ok with a couple weeks of training since he just fought. I'd definitely lean towards Cowboy, but that could be a fun fight.

Masvidal would be good, if he had won against Iaquinta. Not sure T Ferg is gonna risk taking a short notice fight against someone like Cowboy with the momentum he has going.

Someone else I personally was thinking of, was Nate Diaz. Someone who already holds a win over Cowboy, he could get revenge or lose again.

Not sure I like the Dariush fight, but I guess if they can't find anyone else....

Sean Spencer vs Cathal Pendred.

That's the worst decision I've ever seen, let alone this year. Masvidal/Iaquinta was a bad decision but I have to be honest, I've seen several I'd consider worse than that this year.

I'm really bummed Khabib is injured yet again though. He's only fought once in a year and a half and that'll likely be at least 2 years after this.

Masvidal wants the fight
Give it to him.
