Sounds like Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) featherweight contender Conor McGregor had a rip-roaring good time as a special guest at UFC 179, which took place last Saturday night (Oct. 25, 2014) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

I think Conor needs to fight a wrestler. Aldo showed that Chad, a great wrestler couldn't hold the champ down. Why does Conor think he's any better? Unless the kid is cocky and won't even bother taking the fight to the ground.

Of course Conor wouldn't try to take Aldo down if it happened, it'd be 100% balls to the wall stand up fight.

Conor definitely needs to prove himself more before a fight with Aldo who has beaten anyone and everyone at FW. I don't think you can justify a title shot for McGregor until he beats one of the top five guys in the division like Mendes, Edgar, Swanson, Lamas or Bermudez....but I also wouldn't mind watching Aldo destroy McGregor.

All of those guys have already fought Aldo, except for Bermudez.
And do you really think Bermudez matches up better with Aldo than Conor?

I do hit either guy would go for a takedown
In a dog fight I definitely would pick aldo
For a guy with a lot of knockouts. First round for Connor
We don't know what his gas tank is like in the championship rounds

Who said that? You don't justify giving someone a title shot by saying they haven't fought the champ before and the other guys have. Clearly Mendes did a better job his second time around, maybe others could as well. The point is Conor wouldn't beat any of those guys, except maybe Swanson. I'd actually like to see him prove that he deserves the title shot, instead of just talking about it and the UFC giving him one.

I'd actually like for Aldo to face someone he hasn't faced before.

Not to sure I agree with you on the destroy part. I think the Aldo Mendes fight was preety close fight. I gave it to Aldo but Chad put a beating on Aldo! Did you see his face after?I have the feel that if Aldo fights Connor the same way(standing right in front of him and exchanging in the pocket) his will not make through 5 rounds. I feel like the only chance he has is to throw a bunch of leg kicks and use a lot of movement and angle it out it with his attacks

McGregor is a tough style matchup for Aldo.

I've always said the guy that beats Aldo is going to be able to beat him standing. Aldo's TDD is too good to go down to a wrestler.

Yep, I watched the fight that Aldo won 49-46 or 48-47, however you wanna score it. Mendes did well, but we all knew he had improved, (unless you are ignorant) and was going to do well, but ultimately lose to Aldo. If anything, I was more impressed with Jose's ability to take a shot on the chin and not really be in trouble...Chad hit him with some good shots that he was knocking previous opponents out with, and Aldo ate them, marched forward and basically outstruck Mendes for 3 or 4 rounds. I'd rather Aldo not get hit like that going forward because your chin can only take so much punishment before it starts giving out.

Style wise, McGregor might pose some problems for Aldo because he is big, has reach and is a southpaw, but I have to believe that Aldo would destroy his lead leg with kicks and either finish McGregor on the ground with GNP after he can't walk or just cruise to the judges. I'm not saying McGregor can't win, anything can happen in this sport....we saw Matt Serra TKO GSP, Tito Ortiz who hadn't won a fight in like 7 years, clip Bader and submit him....shit happens in this sport, but based on a full body of work as an athlete I have to assume that Aldo would destroy Conor. I'm not too sure what Mendes vs. Aldo 2 has to do with Jose destroying McGregor either, lol they are completely different types of fighters. Just because Chad had some success does not automatically mean McGregor will too. I think Mendes would also put a beating on McGregor but I guess only time will tell.

Edit - I'd like to see Aldo face guys he hasn't fought yet either, but I'd like for them to prove them belong in the cage with him first and if they avoid those top 5 guys, I just don't see how you can justify it.
