Much like Vitor Belfort, the man he replaced in the upcoming UFC 173 headliner, Lyoto Machida has been tapped the underdog in his middleweight title fight with champion Chris Weidman.

Was down to -150 within minutes. Not sure why people think Machida has something today he didn't have against Phil Davis.

Maybe its the 20lbs he doesn't have that they are all so excited about.

Davis is inflated though, so it's not a functional weight difference.

I agree. As long as he doesnt get too aggressive and bull rush the Dragon, I think Weidman has this one easily.

This is the type of match-up Machida typically looks good in.

I like those odds. I might just put some cash on Machida myself.

At 150, the odds are basically a pick it. I will go with the champ. Why easy? Weidman is undefeated, has never been in trouble in a fight that I have seen and destroyed Silva twice (doesnt matter if you call the first fight luck or the second one a fluke, Weidman finished him twice early on in both fights and was never in danger). I think Weidman is a stronger, better athlete. I think he will get Lyota to the ground and either win via submission or decision. Lyota lost to Davis (although he should have won), but then again, he ran from Hendo and won a BS decision in my mind, so it equals out. Also, I wasnt too impressed with his fight against moussai. Yes he won, but he didnt show me anything different. Yes, the Dragon destroyed Munoz, but so did Weidman. Outside of that, Lyota has only finished an aging Couture since Shogun figured him out. Previously fighters were recklous when fighting Lyota and got caught. Just my opinion.

Still not sold on it being easy. Machida is the farthest fight from easy IMO. Shogun is the only fighter who can say they had an easy fight with him. I even scored the first round with Jones for Machida. I do not think Weidman is a fluke though and its going to be a tough test. The odds them self show it should be a highly competitive fight.

Don't forget Machida has an 80% tdd rate. Davis only was able to secure 2 td's. Weidman fought Anderson and other then that lets not act like he beat anyone else all that impressive. I think Chris is going to see some stuff hes not used to. Great fight Either way.

The fact Steven Thompson said he sparred with Weidman to help him beat Silva and he literally couldn't hit him makes me think Machida could well be drawing dead here.
