On the same day the Nevada State Athletic Commission announced a major change in its policy on testosterone-replacement therapy, there has been a major change at the top of the next major card the state will host.

Vitor Belfort (24-10 MMA, 13-6 UFC) is out of his middleweight title shot against champion Chris Weidman (11-0 MMA, 7-0 UFC) at UFC 173 in May, and in his place will step fellow Brazilian and former champion Lyoto Machida (21-4 MMA, 13-4 UFC).

It sounds like hes saying he wants time to get himself off of it and be use to it without it. Reasonable excuse but horrible timing.

Vitor haters are jizzing in their pants. Aw well, WAR MACHIDA!

This. He probably knows he doesn't have time to cycle off and doesn't want to get popped.

The article says this:

"Machida, a former light heavyweight champ, now gets a title shot in what will be just his third fight at 185 pounds. In his debut in the division this past October, he knocked out Mark Munoz. And earlier this month, he took a decision from Gegard Mousasi in Brazil, giving him four wins in his past five fights."

I'd just like to point out that he's won five of his last fights and that he's looked great since his cut to MW. I love this matchup.

As for Belfort - stepping out of the fights doesn't exactly help when it comes to allegations of cheating against him.

Good call. The Davis fight was a BS decision IMO

I actually don't blame him
He needs to cycle it out and start training without it get used to it.

Still a excellent fight.

I suspected Vitor would drop out but I didn't think it would be this soon. TRT was literally just banned yesterday.

In other words he's juiced out of his mind right now and won't be clean enough even by May.

At least he didn't waste everyones time pussy footing around. It gives everyone time to make the proper adjustments. I'm not defending the guy but I like that he didn't keep hope alive when there was none. Either way I like the new fight just as much as the old one
