Corey Hill didn’t watch Anderson Silva‘s rematch with Chris Weidman, but he had an eerie feeling when he received a text message from a buddy the night of UFC 168.

The most shocking thing to me about this article is that he didn't even watch the fight.

Most interesting part of the article for me was the UFC seemed to push Corey Hill out of the Octagon. They only paid for his first surgery and he had multiple and when he finally recovered enough to fight, they said he can either fight a hard opponent or go to regional circuit. Loses his first regional fight and they cut him.. Sounds like the UFC didn't want to pay his bills to me..

I bet UFC will pay for all of Andersen's injury though, but only because it happened in the octagon, not because he's p4p one of the greatest to ever fight in MMA.
winkwink

It seems to me that the UFC would pay for the injuries weather it happened it happened in the octagon or not.
I think his status as the potential P4P GOAT has nothing to do with it.
If the fighters now have insurance that covers them outside of the octagon I could only imagine they would cover an injury that took place during an actual fight.

True I've heard them say that, but to me it sounds like the UFC covered the initial surgery, but Corey Hill required multiple surgeries and therapy that the UFC didn't pick the tab on .

Doesn't the UFC's insurance policy that cap out at $50,000 a year?

It just raises suspension to me, I mean what if a guy get's cut while recovering, Does the Insurance policy get cut from the fighter? If so have UFC made cuts with the idea of saving insurance policy money? I mean I know it's a business and we all know Dana isn't the most ethical guy on the planet.

His fight was years before that policy. At the time, they'd cover initial expenses but anything thereafter was on you. Kalib Starnes complained that the cut he had in the Belcher fight cost him $11,000 out of pocket because it became infected and UFC wouldn't cover it.

Vernon White paid $38,000 out of pocket because Chuck Liddell thumb punched him in the eye and he didn't realize how bad it was until a few days after the fight.

Ah the good old days when fighters fought for........I'm not even sure what it was that motivated them.
