After Junior dos Santos beat down Shane Carwin in a #1 contender's match at UFC 131, it was only a matter of time before his shot against heavyweight champ Cain Velasquez would be scheduled. The question mark was Velasquez' recovery time from rotator cuff surgery earlier in the year.

Velasquez pasted Brock Lesnar at UFC 121 to take the title last October but injured his shoulder and has not fought since.

Now apparently UFC officials know enough to set a date.

Cain has the cardio gift and should kick butt, however i hope Cain is not ring rusted, if his timing is off, he will get hit a lot harder, than he did vs Kongo

Looks like the big fight is going down, awesome.

Right now I am favoring Cain a bit based on JDS decrease in offensive productivity in later rounds. But IMO has the making for a great fight.

Yeah Junior Definitely blew his wad in the First round against Carwin. Luckily for him, Carwin has little endurance to speak of, and was therefore incapable of capitalizing.

How about JDS in #1 title fights will always go to a decision? Nelson... Carwin... (Insert next victim)...

But seriously Cain wins Via being more complete. I'll say Unanimous Decision.

Who you taking in this one? Going with Dos Santos just based on Cains long layoff.

I'm glad everyone is all over Cain's onions because Junior will slaughter him. And as for him slowing in later rounds against Carwin, he had already won the fight and didn't risk Carwin catching him with a lucky punch like Carwin has been known to do.
