i just heard i recent interview with Wandy and one of the questions that they asked him was if he was going to shave his head for the Jackson fight? he said he was not sure becuase in the UFC you can elbow while your down and he said with a shaved head he could get cut easier. he usually has a buzzed head so i cant imagine just a little hair would make a difference.

also many points people said about Kimbo was that his beard helped him take punches, (not very well if you ask Seth ) would would it really make a difference? i dont think i buy into it.

i can't imagine that hair would make a difference but especially when a head is still buzzed just not shaved, i don't think it would make much of a difference. but i could be wrong?

what does everyone else think?

All i know about this is, that when din thomas was set to face kenny florian, din was worried about kenny elbows so he grew his fro out a bit to not get cut on the top of the head.

But Din ended up injuring his knee and lost the fight.

It is more difficult to get cut, especially on the top of the head. Hair will somewhat protect abrasions caused by elbows and it will soak up some of the blood. Having a shaved head makes a really clean area to be cut. If you watch fights with Robbie Lawler, Wanderlei, and Couture-- they've all had fights where they've bled profusely from the top of their finely shaved heads.

I would say it is more difficult to get cut, but not a knockout.

I think that it might help a little on the top of the head as far as getting cut from elbows, but I don't think that facial hair helps with taking punches to the face.

Yes, longer and thicker hair undoubtably helps protects your head from cuts. Din Thomas grew his hair out against Kenny Florian as respect to and protection from Kenny's eblows. Joe Stevenson grew his hair out when he fought Florian as well.

Weird, my pube covered jock and cup help so much from nutshots. It makes quite the impression in the locker room

Well to be fair, I've never seen a fight stopped because of a bloody scrotum..

Even if Joe Son tried his hardest.
