The Ultimate Fighting Championship has inked a multi-fight deal with talented Italian light heavyweight Ivan Serati (10-2).

Serati, a Cage Rage veteran, joins a growing number of European fighters who have recently signed with the UFC as the organization continues to expand throughout Europe.

Sources close to Serati told MMAjunkie.com of the signing over the weekend, though terms of the deal were not disclosed

I don't understand this signing, Ivan is not that good. He will be a gatekeeper for the LHW division AT BEST.

Mind you, he was also caught cheating against long-time vet Lee Hasdell. Before entering the cage he was deducted a point for using a banned substance, as he was covered in an oily substance. I lost respect for him right then...

The UFC needs to focus on talent for divisions like heavyweight and middleweight... LHW is the LAST division they need to be recruiting for. I know it's their biggest selling point, but look at the division, it's not like they're going to run out of amazing fights anytime soon.

what's the big deal about the ufc signing a good fighter. will he be in belt contention? probably not. but if the guy puts on a few good fights then who cares. now i agree that the ufc needs to bring in some new blood at middleweight and heavyweight, that's a fair point, but i don't see anything wrong with the ufc trying to make the most exciting division in the sport a little more exciting.

Woo-hoo, it looks like im the only one stoked about this pick up.
Will he be the LHW Champ? Unlikely, he should make for some exciting fights however.
Can't wait to watch him fight!

I've seen him in Cage Rage a few times. He has heavy hands. UFC continues to pick up the top French fighters. David Baron, Jess Liaudin, Cheick Kongo and now Ivan Serati. Eventually I assume we'll be seeing a UFC in France.
