I'm sure everyone does research if they hope to be even remotely competative at secondary. I'm talking about avoiding events that have 14 fighters on the card that have never been in a big show, and now you have to spend hours trying to track down Wild Bills Fight Night 154 to try and watch one of these guys, at which point you have 13 more obscure fighters to go. A few unknowns on a card are ok, but Cage Rage and Strikeforce use a vast majority of unknowns.
Now, you say that doesn't favor people that do research, but you are incorrect. Go back into the Secondary League results and look at events that had a ton of unknowns on the card, like the last Strikeforce for example. The folks that had the top ranks are typically players that don't do very well at this game, which to me says that that paticular event was basically a guessing game, or else the top players would be people that consistantly do well and understand the fight game.

Im not looking at the statistics in front of me, but clearly over time the better players have gotten the so called 50/50 fights right far more times than wrong.
whatever is done I will obviously play with. I dont think this will affect the website at all, but I would personally rather play a whole card than mix two together. Why not just pick one over the other? in your rules it says you can pick and choose which to use and jsut bc you have used one in the past doesnt mean you have to use it again.

Svar had some good points and yes it was his idea. Another point I would like to add is that the undercards of a lot of secondary league events are added or changed at the last minute. I remember some events that had 3 or 4 fights changed at the last minute. That gets tough to track and change all at the last minute. Then multiply that by two. So for the people that do their research, how would you like to spend hours researching a 1-1 fighter only to have him or his opponent dropped on the last day?
Basically to the nay sayers of this, I have one question. Would you rather have
a double header with two main cards
or
would you rather us pick one event and put up the complete card
or
would you rather have no events? (keep in mind this was our original option)
Those are the three choices. People will have problems with either one of those choices.
Another thing I want to add is that I fail to see how any given event/card can benefit any player in this game. My wife uses a completely "mindless" system to make her picks and has gotten up to 70ish points for an event (usually averages over 45 points.) I'm not convinced that the educated players of this game have any more or less advantage for any given card. Other than the clearly one sided fights, most fights are a 50:50 chance at picking the winners. Besides, you don't get the points picking the winners, you get them picking the methods and hot bout.

One event with complete card.
Edit: Just to clarify to below, I meant only pick one event and put up the complete card for it, and not pick the other event at all.

double header. no matter how much you research the 1-1 guys they still don't have enough info for you to make an informed pick.

In this case, we weren't going to do either event singlely because CR has too many unknown fighters and we got a lot of complaints about it, and Strikeforce are notorious for having their cards fall apart and adding the undercard at the weigh-in. By combining them, we get around those pitfalls for the most part, so its really double-header or nothing on this one.

Sounds cool to me the secondary league is my risk taking league. I take a lot of chances and my record shows it in that league .

In that case, I change my vote to nothing. Yeah, I'd rather have an event to pick but given what's happened to cards like this since I've been here, I'd always rather be better safe than sorry.

so when the events are combined...cause they will be... youll just not pick the fights?

I like the combining the two main cards.. they rarely change as much as the undercards.. and are usually easier to research.. I mean I like to look up alot of these no name guys... but Cage rage takes too long I sually just look at thier record and make a gut decision... sometimes I am right sometimes I am not..
