Nick Diaz was offered a fight with Shinya Aoki at the Yarennoka! NYE event after JZ Calvancanti had to drop due to injuries, but was forced to decline the invitation because he it was deemed that one week was not enough time to prepare.
MMAFightline.com has since learned that Shinya Aoki will instead face South Korean fighter Bukyung Jung at the highly anticipated event.

yeah, no way to take a fight across the globe with less than one weeks time to prepare.

Yeah it was a good choice. This would have been a bad ass fight though. Aoki would have won if he did take it. But I think with the right time to train that Diaz could pull off the knockout. I mean his BJJ could at least prevent him from being submitted and he probably has the better hands.
But nonetheless it was a smart move. Still this event is going to be off the chart!!!

Hmmm....they should make this fight happen in a couple of months....say April.

I'd have liked it, but one week is barely time to get used to the time difference. Nevermind drop weight and prepare for a guy of Aoki's caliber. Smart move.

At least if he did take it we know Aoki wouldn't have beat him by cutting him like every other fighter does.

Smart move by Nick, with more time he could possibly win this matchup.

Does anyone know what the healing time is from the surgery he had for that scar tissue around his face? I wonder if he was even ready to jump back in just yet.
