After his taste of the limelight as the winner of the UFC 3 tournament, Steve Jennum made news again, this time in his other role as a police officer. While off-duty on December 17, Jennum was attacked from behind by three assailants wielding a bottle as a weapon. Jennum prevented himself from being struck by the bottle and struggled with the accused until one of them pulled a knife and Jennum vacated the scene.

"He was able to prevent the suspect from striking him from behind with the bottle and struggled with the victims, obviously his training added to what he was able to do," said Omaha Police Sgt. Teresa Negron.

Additional Info in the Jennum incident.....

(Jennums attacker )Manuel Robles was booked as an accessory to a felony. Police later arrested the two other suspects, 18-year-old Alisha Sickels of Omaha and 18-year old Jessica Whittaker of Washington, Illinois.

Since when does a dude and 2 girls go on an attacking spree with a bottle and a knife??? What the hell is going on out in Omaha??

And not only do they have the bad luck of attacking an off duty cop.... he is also an ex-UFC Champ..... (although won as alternate for Shamrock)

Dana White was behind this.I have proof.LOL

Very strange indeed.I can't help but to find it a little funny though. They attempted to attacked an ex-UFC champion.More proof that 2007 has been the craziest year to date in MMA.

The problem here is that after the three assailants took his back, they forgot to sink the hooks in, and against a former world-champion and ground wizard such as Steve Jennum, you cannot afford to make such mistakes.

Rogan would have said, "Jennum's unbelievable back defense is top of the food chain. He easily avoided the rear-naked bottle-choke and, in a crazy scramble, he escaped to his feet to avoid the dominant position that the three had achieved."

nice....

Rogan would have also discussed the fact the Jennum...
"put on an absolute jiu-jitsu clinic"

and probably would have also mentioned the fact that Jennum may have a "padunk-a-dunk" which would of course once again cause Mike Goldberg to giggle....
